WoooooooW!! Really? Stupid F*%$#g government!! That is completely unfair by singling out only certain farms. An I bet they just slapped a hefty fine on these places without a warning too, being a government agency. This is absolutley absurd!!! This "law" better not stay in effect, because if it does, there goes our food prices...again. Skyrocketed!! I farm over 12,000 acres of hay only and I'm gonna not be very pleasant to be around if someone tells me where to put my bales because they think it's polluting the air! They'll find a gun in their face real quick!

I dunno, I'll take Albuterol over Epinephrine, fewer side effects; tremors, fast heartbeat.

As for expense, looking at my receipt, my Ventolin MDI (if I was uninsured, it's $3 for me) is $18.98. At Walgreens, the fewer doses Epinephrine MDI OTC $19.99

Anyway, this is OLD news, this CFC MDI phaseout started in 2005, ending for Albuterol in Sept 2008 (The MDI CFC initial phaseout actually goes back even father, 2002)

Where was all this outrage then?

MTi, I guess I'm puzzled as to the amount of outcry, mainly because there really doesn't seem to be any REAL outcry on this. People who have diagnosed Asthma, at least the ones I know personally, don't use the over the counter remedy for their symptoms.

'Course I won't mention that the phaseout of CFCs has been going on for decades and anyone who's paying attention (In Other Words, taking responsibility) reasonably would have expected that such a phaseout would affect inhalers and use CFC as a propellant.

Yah, there really isn't any outcry, it's merely opportunity to complain.

Ventolin MDI with CFC went away the last month of Bush being in office, and the genesis of the phaseout started in 2005. (And you are right, CFC phaseout 'in general' goes back the Reagan era)

Anyone who really takes their asthma seriously would have seen this coming from miles away.

I had to chuckle this morrning.. I woke up and read the article about pollution hay and scoffed at it. Then on my drive to iowa, I was in illonois passing a corn field as the sun was just coming up and the view was just beautiful; the morning sun rays cutting through the heavy fog over the acres of corn. It was then my passenger (whom I told about the epa story earlier in the morning) burst out with "Look at all that smog from that heavy polluting corn field!"
I busted out laughing.

That's just crazy. Like the stupid methane tax they wanted to put on cows. Absurd.

Assuming you're not being sarcastic or ironic here (appologies if you are) there are a couple of errors here.

Big Government Hates Asthma Suffers!
1) CFCs are directly toxic, and indirectly cause skin cancer.
2) Most countries stopped making them almost 20 years ago, so stocks simply aren't there.
3) Over the counter generics ARE produced by Big Pharma. It's just not Big US Pharma, but instead 'Big Mac Pharma' based in India and other developing countries that produce lots of cheap drugs instead of limited edition gormet items.
4) It is not the fault of 'Big Government' that lazy arse generic manufactures have refused to produce non CFC based asthma inhailors dispite knowing these laws were coming for almost 20 years.
5) It is specifically NOT obamas fault that America has a terrible healthcare system. Quite the opposite in fact.

Big Government Hates Farmers!
1) No the EPA hasn't declared hay a pollutant, as this story and Drovers/CattleNetwork in fact varifies.
2) As a rule the EPA doesn't announce policy changes via dumbarse hick redneck farmers who have been caught with their pants down breaking laws designed to protect the county water supply and the health of their farm hands.
3) Certain types of CAFO regulation vilations can cause BSE and other similar large scale problems. So yes 'Big Government' has every right and duty to come down on any dumbarse hick redneck farmer who break them for any reason.
4) As a vegitarian cry me a river that industrial murder has just become slightly more difficult for these poor dearies.

Well, yeah, they banned CFC's in the Rx beclometasone inhaler (not asthma, rhinitis (ragweed pollen)) I've used for years, but I can get it in a pump from England that works fine. They had used a "medical permit" to allow R-12 as a propellant for decades past the general ban. Got no issue with that, R-12 was always a piss-poor excuse for a refrigerant anyway. My bitch is that they gave in to the automobile industry and permitted R-134a, which is literally a piss-poor excuse for a piss-poor excuse: even more polluting and less efficient than R-12. They had a brilliant opportunity to permit, say, R-22, which is 300% more efficient and 2% as polluting, but noooooo, we had to kiss the corporate anus and outlaw (literally) anything but 134a for GM, Ford, and Chrysler (All the "foreign" brands A/C are under license to the Big 3, so them too). Semi-trucks, agri equipment, construction equipment, railroads, ships, RV's, use what you want. But if you retrofitted your passenger car or light truck, you violated federal law. (BITE ME !!)

And yeah-- I raise sheep. They have saved my mortgage in this economy. And yeah, my farm is registered with USDA, Scrapies Eradication Program. (Scrapies= Mad Cow= Jacobs-Cruthfeld Disease= spongiform encephalopathy≈ chronic wasting disease.) I get free ear tags, and tagging tool, log, diagrams, etc., which I consider pretty decent. If they're going to tell me to do something a decent farm program does anyway (tag and keep a herd log) and give me the stuff I need to do it, fine. And anyone who feeds dead sheep, cow entrails, etc. to cattle should have their nutsack stapled to a bench and made to assume the position, and let a draft stallion have a go. No "farmer" would do that anyway; CAFO's are the arch-enemy of farmers, using corporate congress-buying and anti-competitive practices to drive families out of agriculture.
