Computer troubles
14 years ago
We begin.
so today my computer has crashed and will not turn on :C!!
well it turns on, but either freezes at a black screen before the window startup or restarts and keeps on restarting when it reaches the screen again.
I have tried starting in safe mod, but it only crashes my computer when trying that, and the other options also crash it such as starting from the last known configuration or saved points.
I've also tried using the cd, but when it tries to boot from the cd it crashes!
all my poor files ;;
halp would be appreciated :C
Typically in this case the files on the C:\ are actually fine, I've fixed this issues quite a few times - Happes most often with Windows XP, ... Problem is that you're also reporting a crash when booting from the CD. The best chance to fix is with a simple repair install from the CD - Just dont allow it to format anything.
.. Professional help may be needed to fix this.
..Another possible cause (yes, there are many from what you describe) - is the power draw is exceeding the ability of a failing power supply to keep up. Add-in cards like video adapters will begin drawing a bit more power as their drivers are initalized at startup.
Hmm.. Sounds like it could be a hardware failure. Maybe a stick of RAM that has gone bad.
Could be the CPU overheating.
Could be the sectors where the OS are stored on has failed. :<
This is something a tech is going to have to probably look at personally. :(
I'd offer to look at it, but no doubt you are far away from me ^^;;
FIRST THING TO TRY:
Please clean the coolers before trying anything else.
ive seen many computers that started failing suddenly just because the cooler is dusty and causing the system to "choke".
Power-supply:
Power supplies do age over time. if you unplug some unnecessary things(extra-fans,DVD-drives,USB things)
you might free up enough power for the system to work more stable. altough unlikely
Memory:
Well if its the memory you could try to look if your system has 2 or more ram-modules.
if so try pulling one of them out and see if the problem happens faster or not-at all(helped me identify faulty ram quickly).
Memory is always the quickest to go broken(atleast with me....) or to act funny sometimes.
as far as i know you files are probably safe tough.
