Earlier this week, I took my Electronic Data Processing Test (EDPT). Luckily, I did just well enough to get where I wanted.

I assumed I would be taking it on a computer, but I was wrong. The booklet I was handed was ancient-looking, the edges worn and the cover not even attached. It turns out the test was made in 1960-something, and they just never bothered to update it, or make a new one. Now, I have trouble imagining that any test written in 1960 could accurately gauge whether someone has a mind for programming in 2011 (or possibly even 1960 for that matter, people were stupider back then). Fifty years is a long, long time in the world of computers.

Anyway, that's really all I have to say on the matter. It's hard to get too worked up about it because I passed, after all, but I'm sure I could have done better on a test more recently written.
