Pumpking Beer Apocalypse: Part 2; the Frothening.
OK SO I TOTALLY JUMPED THE GUN ABOUT THE BEER BEING ALL SEDIMENTY SORRY I WAS NERVOUS ABOUT THIS BEER SINCE EVERYONE WAS LOOKING FORWARD TO IT. THAT BEING SAID...
I think this may be the most awesome beer I have ever made.
Not a statement to be taken lightly. I really liked my Scotch Ale and my Kolsch. Last years pumpkin beer was OK, but this. This stuff. This is a real doozy.
Fun facts learned today:
1) Beer is actually about 11% ABV. The sediment threw off the hydrometer reading. Who knew.
2) Cinnamon flakes are really light. So light they float to the top when the beer foams and they INFUSE THE HEAD OF THE BEER. This make the beer smell a lot like cinnamon. The body taste is distinctively pumpkin pie still.
3) Despite the small amount of sediment in the beer, it doesn't taste bitter at all. I believe now the majority of the sediment is actually some spices that escaped the filter when I put the spice potion in. I didn't use a filer so much as a screen soooo, yeah, happy mistake.
I was able to consume lovingly the test pint, and I feel all warm and cozy all over. Cinnamon and nutmeg and alcohol reeealllllly get me into the fall/harvest season spirit. <3 <3 <3
