Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving! Thanksgiving is my second-favourite holiday, only behind Christmas. Loads of food, and time with the family—I love it!
Hope the rest of you Canadians are having a good one. And for you foreigners, bust out some fine dining anyway. You can't go wrong with fooding up with friends and family. :3

Happy Maple Leafed Turkey Day, Ransom
Happy Thanksgiving, gray cat!
I have to wait another 6 weeks for my turkey with cranberry sauce. And pumpkin pie. And..
...
Aw, hell, why wait? ;)
It turns out Thanksgiving in Canada can be traced back to to 1578 and the voyage of Martin Frobisher in search of the Northwest Passage. It began to be celebrated annually in 1879, though its current fixed date was not established until 1957. Apparently it used to coincide with celebrations of a major anniversary or commemoration - the idea being that there was something specific for which to be thankful.
Just about any American school kid knows that the "First Thanksgiving" (in what is now the USA, at least) was celebrated in 1621, though it wasn't really thought of as such at the time. President Lincoln proclaimed a day of Thanksgiving in 1863 and it has since been celebrated annually, and it was declared as an official annual holiday on the 4th Thursday of November in 1941. (Prior to this, some states celebrated it on different dates, or even on both dates. Apparently, prior to it becoming an annual tradition, Upper and Lower Canada had different dates for a time prior to Canadian Confederation, as well.)
So, there we go! Canada indeed beat us to it.
What this means is that you should go visit some of your Yank friends at the end of November and have more turkey. :)
And yes, that is a good idea. :D
