Boots of Prowess

So yeah, I finally got back into playing a game that I hadn't touched for awhile after I rage quit at Gabriel (due to horrible team comp). That game would be Star Ocean: Till the End of Time. It's a pretty fun game, action rpg with an interesting enough story (although imo, story shows a bit of age, as does the game's graphical direction) but I really love its battle system. Essentially it's a system with 6 attack variations (7 if you count magic, but since it sucks, who cares X3). Weak attack, Strong attack, Long-range variant, Short range variant, and skills at both strength levels. With all that you can make combos that can net you up to 300% bonus damage on your attacks, resulting in some pretty crazy numbers (I do love bigass numbers in my damage :D).
But that's not what I wanted to talk about. I wanted to talk about the item known as the boots of prowess. These little babies are created through the most ill-conceived time waster I have ever encountered in my life as a gamer, this game's item creation system. Essentially, you take a team of characters with good stats towards the type of item you want (crafting, engineering, synthesis, etc) then you craps shoot for how much money will be spent on development. Which is completely random, and if you're aiming for a specific item you need to have this random amount land within the item's specified range (like the BoP (Boots of Prowess) are roughly around 4.2k fol (this game's money).
After that, you then have to WAIT as a progress bar fills up. When it hits max, your character's portraits will either look happy or sad (success or miss basically) signifying if you made something. Hit or miss, the bar will empty and begin to refill. You basically just wait for this bar to fill up multiple times and hope they make something, of course it's not that easy, oh no. Each success or failure reduces your "quality" or essentially decreases your success rate. So if you don't get it right away, you'll just get even less and less chance to succeed (and continue losing all your fol, since each fill up takes away the cost from your total plus random amounts of fol deducted from you during the filling).
TL:DR it's bloody boring, and I had to make like 12 of these BoP so I can upgrade them (which is the above process, except with a set price) to have 30%+ to attack and defense. I do this, so I can then fuse the boots into my weapons transferring these bonuses onto it, where they will stack up to 8 times (aka, +240% attack/def!). With these, the uber boss Gabriel stood not a chance :D, and my younger years playing this game were paid back in blooooooooood (though I still have the rest of the extra game content to do now... sphere 211 included... auuugh).
Also, I still be writing, I'm trying something different and having like, 5 writing projects in queue at once X3. To see if having stuff to jump between will keep me motivated. You guys can look forward to things that may or may not include: a burst tf, a fruit tf, a werehorse tf, Edgard and drake tf, and a looong piece with lotsa tf. Anyways, long rant over, I need sleep and stuff for studying tomorrow X3 later all.

I was planning on throwing some crap like that on my weapons aside from the BoP X3. The huge number growth is just... comforting.

I was thinking of cycling Maria into my party, my third slot is kind of up in the air as I still cling to the hopes that Sophia will eventually learn how to heal instead of standing around picking her nose X3.

Haha yeah, when you get energy burst it's kinda overpowered:S. It does constant damage and drains mp at the same time!

Not that mp draining matters haha

With combo damage climb and boots on her, sounds deadly ow0. And mp drain can be nice vs some bosses if they have like no mp, lol.
