Every fandom/movie/book/game/dildo company that has ever gotten incredibly negative press on the internet, is mostly just because of all the fans talking about it. (Spoiler Alert: That's typically what you do if you're a fan of something.)

Seriously, look at things people on the internet hate, and look at how many had HUGE fanbases. You don't hate that thing because you think it's bad, you hate it because you hate the fans. Or you're trying to fit in with the cool people, and hey, good luck with that.

I'm pretty sure a fair portion of people who claim to hate the Twilight series has never actually watched a movie or read a book from it. They just know that "EdwardCullenismywaifu38" doesn't shut the fuck up about it, so they get annoyed that it exists.

That's not to say that things that qualify are necessarily good, but chances are they're not nearly as bad as you hear from people who hate the fans.
