Basically a raffle is just informing alot of people that you might do free art for an individual or small group of people under certain conditions (Such as making a journal about a raffle in their journal, drawing an art that you might like, ref sheets and choosing which one appeals to you, etc) it can be a number of reasons or no reason at all.Its a good way for some artists to use that method to promote themselves more and their art, leading into more people to get an interest in their art as well as getting new possible customers....Bleh i talk too much, so very sorry

It could be that as well if you wish. A raffle is basically anything you want it to be. you can set the rules in anyway you like :) so long as its fair >.>

Except Paypal won't allow that because they don't like gambling. Paypal would only allow it if it was grab-bag style where everybody who bought a ticket at least gets something and one person might get the grand prize and everyone else maybe gets like a cheap quickie sketch or icon or something like that.

give or take. The ppl might have to get a ticket OR make a submission of an art OR watever else you can do. Its also limit-free :3

Yeah I was just saying Paypal will be upset if you did a true raffle where most people don't win anything and one guy gets lucky. If its free that's ok but if you need a transfer of cash anywhere in there chances are it's against paypal rules. I've only seen a few grab bag like thing but it's usually like this:
-Tickets cost $X (let's just say 3)
-Start off with one grand prize winner gets a big prize (ie a full color commission) and everyone else gets a cheap prize (ie a quick sketch)
-give incentives for people to buy more tickets (ie if 50 tickets sold, you add another big prize [2 big prizes now] and if you sell 100 tickets everyone who didn't win a prize gets their icon inked)
-assign everyone numbers for their tickets and then pick the winners using a random number generator

oh no, a raffle doesnt include money, its just a method to show off your art more O_O

I was the same.

Basically, you send me a note saying you want a commission, when all the other slots are filled. Right now the reserve list is pretty long, so it may take a while for me to get to anyone recently added. But there's always the chance that people will drop out, or have a change of mind or circumstances by the time I get around to them, so who knows how quickly the list will move.

I don't mind a long wait, since I'm trying to save up money anyways.

Very interesting. I'd love to get a commission from you (have been curious for a few years), and since I've got a lot of other projects to keep me busy, being on a waiting list is no problem.

One thing though: it is very good that you've posted several price examples so I know roughly how much a pic will cost, but if you're going to use an old journal as a guide, it would probably be good if you updated the reference pics, since *none* of them seem to be working at the moment. I'd like to know what Im' getting before I add my name to the list, so I can be ready with the right amount for what I want when my number comes up on the list.

It's a bit of a shame that you don't have much practice with lizards, since my avatar, who, I get a lot of commissions of, is an anthro-lizard, but maybe you'll be a bit more seasoned by the time I come around. Or I'll just think of some other picture featuring characters you already have established, and maybe some of my own. We'll see.

Come to think of it, a long waiting list might actually be good for me, since I've got projects up the wazoo as it is.

Gonna have to start saving up though. Quality costs.

Not for the reserve list. But it's always good to have a general idea of what you want, anyway. If I come to you and you don't know, I'll go to someone else who does until you find out what you want.

What if there's more than one character in the commission? How does that come into play with regards to the pricing?
