YAY! I finished
triggur's commission!
on to the gift art!
Nope, I'm not accepting new order just yet. Let me breath for a while, okay?
I'm getting used to the hard work, when I forget about the pain in my heels, I think this work could be quite fun. If you don't count seeing blood and pee and poop splattering everywhere... yes. Being a vet is fun. Now I know that all those overloaded information that I have studied are all useful.
I don't know if my mind is being distorted again, but yesterday, a dog died after we tried so hard to rescue him.
They were collecting his Cerebro-spinal fluid ( the fluid around the brain and spinal cord ) to see if there's any Canine Distemper. They were using the word "play" on him. like this :
Vet1 : Yay! I got it! ya wanna play?
Vet2 : Sure! Lemme try collecting too!
Me : Can I play with his epidural too?
Vet1 : Of course!
Me : *Feels like I just got a new toy*
Vet1 : Hey, come and try dissecting this vein!
....
...
..
.
After I successfully "practiced" the epidural puncturing on a dead dog... I realized that... A patient had just died....on my hands... Shouldn't I...we...be sad? Why aren't we? And why are we "playing" with his carcass like a toy?
Oh well... At least I try my best with the living ones.
My definition of the word "beautiful" has also drastically changed.
*Changing bandage of a dog with a severe wound.*
*revealing the nasty looking wound*
Vet1 : Bright red! how beautiful!
Me : Beautiful?
Vet1 : Yesterday there was pus.
Me : Okay...

Its sad, but true.
When you really think on it. In the face of horrible events, even the simplest, ugly things become beautiful.
2 years ago, when I was studying Anatomy. the word "beautiful" has a new meaning, which is "neatly dissected, you can see the structure around the organ very clearly"
Funny thing is, I said "Wow! Beautiful" in front of the computer screen, while eating noodle. My bro took a peak, and he said he'll never understand me and my definition of beauty. lol.
Poor dog though - but it's good you did get to practice on a non-living animal too~.
and yeah - i can totally understand how as a animal med student the definition of 'beautiful' suddenly gets a whole new meaning ^^;
