Rest In Peace, Athus

"MORELS taste good in omelettes..."
An old friend of my mate's, and a new friend of mine,
athus, was killed in a car-crash on October 11th. We were already on the road up to Canada to visit some other pals of mine who are fighting their own potentially-deadly ills (cancer, both of them, colon and multiple myeloma). I will most likely be mourning one of them within the next couple of years (yer tough,
horsieboy ! You've beaten this once, maybe you can do it again I really don't like it when my friends die- I don't have many to lose... O___o
*sighs* Kani and I only heard about Athus' passing yesterday morning... We've been on the road for the last two weeks and haven't been online much.
I liked that dragon- he was shy around folks he didn't know well, but still friendly. We got along, even though he barely knew me from all the other fans of his art. I was a relative newcomer to his circle of acquaintances. I will fondly remember that tall, too-thin frame, dressed in his almost trademarked half-gloves, stripy shirts, the cloth scarf thing he wore around his neck, those goggles (I might be confusing his mode of dress with
syrinoth 's. I do that- stupid prosopagnosia), that long hair, his quiet demeanor and the little smile he'd give for things he liked or found funny... I even got to hang out with him and the Bad Dragon crew in their room, one year at FC (2009? Or was it 2010?) for one of their "infamous" room-parties, though why they were infamous is beyond me. All we did was stuff any other bunch of friends would do: hang out, yak, tell stories, share a brew or two. Ok, we were also perusing Bad Dragon's first line of adult toys... *snerks*
I was mostly too shy to do much other than be a wallflower, hanging at the edges of the room. It was Athus and Narse who drew me out by asking me about the possibility of making pose-able artists' figures of dragons, gryphons, etc. I loved the idea, but didn't have the means to make them at the time. I know how they're built, now, but... *shrugs* Now Athus can't appreciate his concept in final form. *snuffles*
I liked his art, but I think I liked him more.
We're all gonna miss you, man. I hope, if reincarnation is real, that you get to have your sea-dragon form. <3
Expect some memorial art in the next bit- something came to me while I was posting my condolences on
narse 's page. Poor Narse, he has to bear the greater weight in this, the partner he loved is now gone...
Athus, fly free, dear dragon, or swim, as the case may be- we'll be here for Narse if he needs us.

FA+

You still got me, ol' girl.
and f#@k cancer.
All I know now is that I want to see him again and nothing else in my life has meaning anymore.
Pretty soon I think people are going ot start telling me to shut up about it cause my last like 20 FA journals have been about Athus XD He and I are really close, so this has hurt, a lot.
(sorry I missed this comment... Derp)
