It's been ages since I've used AVG for Anti-virus (I got sick of them coming out with new versions and not updating the old ones anymore every year or so), but you could always temporarily disable it while you're doing openCanvas stuff, then turn it back on afterwards? Should be an option in AVG to disable the Resident Shield or whatever they're calling it these days.

Failing that, if you're not tied to AVG for whatever reason, just blow it away and go with something that doesn't piss you off as much. :)

I've heard that AVG has really gone downhill over the years, but I hear that about a lot of anti-virus software these days. It's common for such programs to automatically delete files and shut down programs without asking for permission. Norton is especially notorious for this.

It's possible that SAI is using a proxy program to handle online requests. Try granting an exception for the "sfl.dll" file in the SAI install folder in Program Files, named "Easy Paint Tool SAI".

I use Microsoft Security Essentials. I love it, and so does everyone else I've talked to about it.
