I guess I agree, though with citras at least they were created and drawn by a decently good artist. All the art I see of sergals is distinctly mediocre with the odd exception, though I get the annoying feeling that that's mainly due to the fact they're badly designed rather than the artists being bad. Also, it mainly seems to be porn, which also usually puts me off.
Meh.

I think they caught on because the right people at the right time took a liking to them and it became "cool" to have a sergal character. Add to the fact that at the peek of their popularity they also were...semi hermaphrodites ( the females had tentacle clits, a trait long since dropped) they became furry fap fodder and everyone seemed to want one.

I personally don't mind them, but the legacy of look-alikes is getting annoying, I mean, look at all the "original" species recently and nearly half of them are along the lines of Sergals with minor differences, longer snouts, slightly pointer ears, different tails, but yeah...

There's so many different species of animals one can base an original species off of and yet people constant gank the sergal design, it's maddening....and sorry to fill your page with personal ragewank, XD

yeah, seems spot on. I'd just never heard of the damn things until they suddenly started just... appearing out of the woodwork and acting like they'd been there all along and everyone knew about them.
I just can't get over the tissue box faces. No idea why such a boxy, pointy generic... thing is so damned popular. Bleh.
