Where is the quality art?

Out of 300+ submissions (over quite a few weeks to build up, it's not like I'm watching a billion people), I only favourited one piece. I think that's really kinda sad that no art is really eye-catching anymore and I love every piece someone does. Maybe I'm just watching the wrong people.
Also, I miss when dA wasn't so commercial. >.>
I do the same thing when there are a lot of new submissions. If there was just one or two pieces, I would pay more attention, but when there are 20+ submissions, I skim over them a lot quicker than I normally would if there were less.
