A Question to All Furries
Why are you what you are?
Why did you pick the animal you use as a fursona?
Do you connect with your animal? (If you're an otter, do you like to swim? If you're a wolf, do you like to sing and spend time with your family?)
Do you enjoy being in the same habitat that your animal likes? (If you're a bear, do you like to be in wooded areas?)
Did you just choose your animal because it looks cool?
Are you a character that was featured on a videogame (IE, Pokemon)? How do you connect to this character?
*is curious*

FA+

I just like wolves.
Not really, no.
Not really, no.
Pretty much, yeah.
No.
Dragoons. Protectors of a legendary race, which lead to being part of said legendary race.
To me, its just another side of me, but I would say, kinda. I do hoard things, I do want to be strong like one so I can protect others.
Caves, alone... spent a deal of my life alone, so yea. I guess. :3
Kinda.
Nope.
- Always loved and have had a connection to horses.
- Yesh. Even though I don't do it much, I enjoy running. Competitive sprinting is fun stuff... even if I tire out really fast. :x I have more equine personality quirks too.
- Hell yeah, I love the plains. Colorado ftw.
- Naw, but it sure helps! In my biased opinion, horses are the most beautiful, noble and majestic of creatures, ever.
- God no.
Just about everyone told me I was a pig and so there!-D (This should answer second Q too;)
I lived in the country and liked it more than cities, though i like boar's wilderness and suchlike too. (Boars live in hurban areas too, like Parco di Veio were I spend many of min weknds).
Boar? Cool? Sheesh, ya gotta be kiddig me!-D
Well, I could hunt boars in Ultima 7 and othr RPG, but I wouldn't call that 'connecting', more killing1-D
Second question is a little more straight forward and has a simple answer. At the time I picked that animal I felt it best represented my personality.
In some aspects yes and in others no. I believe I connect more with the animal's mythological known traits than how it behaves for real in the wild.
Oh actually I do enjoy spending time in similar habitat. Actually, the animal I chose lives in the same territory as myself and I do enjoy taking little trips into the forest for hiking and camping when I can. While that has been a good while for me, I still enjoy the experience.
Because it looked cool? Well, it does indeed look cool and they may have been a part of it. Though I would be more inclined to say I found it more cute looking and cute things have far more influence on me.
My species has been featured in many many things, though my actual character is unique to myself and my stories.
Because I've had a spiritual bond with wolves since I was a child. (arctic wolf)
Yes, I have a strong bond with friends and family, and love spending time with them. (Not much irks me more than the 'lone wolf' some folks have adopted, but thats a personal issue)
Somewhat. I love the cold and the snow.
Always thought wolves were beautiful, never the 'they are only bloodthirsty killers' mentality that was about when I was a kid, but that wasn't the main reason I chose it.
Nope.
Bah, stupid people!!
But hey, that's really cool! :D
Because i am
Why did you pick the animal you use as a fursona?
I like it D:
Do you connect with your animal? (If you're an otter, do you like to swim? If you're a wolf, do you like to sing and spend time with your family?)
Im just evil person
Do you enjoy being in the same habitat that your animal likes? (If you're a bear, do you like to be in wooded areas?)
i dont care
Did you just choose your animal because it looks cool?
yes XD!
Are you a character that was featured on a videogame (IE, Pokemon)? How do you connect to this character?

5:Partially
6:Nah
~ That's a deeper question than can be answered quickly. I think you meant it as a lead in to the others, though.
Why did you pick the animal you use as a fursona?
~ I didn't, it picked me? For a more straightforward answer, I picked it for spiritual reasons, though that's hardly more straightforward. My fursona, by the way is a phoenix.
Do you connect with your animal? (If you're an otter, do you like to swim? If you're a wolf, do you like to sing and spend time with your family?)
~ Very strongly.
Do you enjoy being in the same habitat that your animal likes? (If you're a bear, do you like to be in wooded areas?)
~ Uh, I don't think mine has a natural habitat. Not the way I envision it, anyway.
Did you just choose your animal because it looks cool?
~ No, though it does. :P
Are you a character that was featured on a videogame (IE, Pokemon)? How do you connect to this character?
~ No. I tend to think that's rather silly, but as I said, it's spiritual for me. For those who just think it's neat there's nothing wrong with being a mewtoo or whatever.

Good question, I have no Idea. I guess I got bored dealing with human fantasy.
2.Why did you pick the animal you use as a fursona?
I have the same hair color, and my sister once said I had the attitude of one when riled up, and it looks neat.
3.Do you connect with your animal? (If you're an otter, do you like to swim? If you're a wolf, do you like to sing and spend time with your family?)
In the sence that I like solitude, and get cranky when another tresspasses yeah lol.
4.Do you enjoy being in the same habitat that your animal likes? (If you're a bear, do you like to be in wooded areas?)
I like rural over suburban any day.
5.Did you just choose your animal because it looks cool?
Goto question 2
6.Are you a character that was featured on a videogame (IE, Pokemon)? How do you connect to this character?
Nope, The name came about because I used to make addon game maps, Thus a Mapper and the name stuck.
Why am I what I am...so deep. That could be taken philosophical or simply, ya? You know how I roll though...I am an Ukami because of my own experiences and personality, my place in my life and in this world, and ultimately in my essence, you might say. I can change who I am, my essence, but it's not easily done...and I am quite used to being Ukami in an odd sense anyway, and not just in the furry/scaly sense.
I connect with fish and wolves in lots ways...good thing I don't eat either or them, lol. Fish...well, I am quite weird, as fish tend to be. I can be quite vacant up here *taps at cranium* and I can make some of the strangest expressions...usually the open mouth, wide-eyed ones. I've got layers...not like an onion, lol, but like scales...there's hundreds of them, all splayed out differently, and they're no fun to peel through. Wolfishness...like I said in LJ, I feel like that poor omega in the back of the group--I get stepped on and ignored by my own family, which I need more than want a lot of the time. I help out but get ignored or not given much credit for any good things that I've done, or just things in general. I'm there for people, especially for the ones that I love and care about--I drop. I love to pour my heart out into my music...I sing, but I'm very shy about it...but I know I can do it, and when it does happen, it's loud and proud. Also, I am a natural hunter...I hunt for happiness, for personal freedom, for everything...and for every ten tries, there's only about one successful hunt.
I love the snow...but you know that...as clumsy as I may be in it. *facepalms* I love nature in general, but I especially love forests and mountains and someday I would like to visit a true tundra, not the stuff here in Colorado. I like to roam...to feel the wind ruffle and whip my hair on the plains. But then again...I fell in love with the ocean the very first time I saw it. I never felt more at home than when I stepped barefoot on the soft beach sand on O'ahu and went out into the endless Pacific blue, where the sky meets the sea and everything becomes eternity and it all makes sense. I love the water, even outside of the ocean that I like to surf and skim the waves of.
I have to admit that I think Kosi looks really cool. In the wild, she wouldn't work--that species intermingling can't happen, but it would look awesome or interesting anyway. The way I draw her, I really like it. I'm not sure of I could draw myself as something undesirable to my mind because of that intense want-to-please part of my personality, and because making Kosi look uncool would reflect more negativity on my part.
And for once, Kosi is not based off of a video game or some such thing!!! I'm really proud of myself for that. Her appearance is based off of my own, except my skin colour does not seasonally change like her fur does--but her fur change reflects my mood changes and swings, and the way I choose to present myself to others.
There...sorry for typing up a novella...I swear I didn't mean for it to be THIS long!
I'm pretty much a hot climate preference, and while researching, I found that dingoes are of course a warmer climate creature and they are also adverse to large bodies of water, and will wade but rarely swim. I'm the same way. I am capable of swimming, but I just feel uncomfortable in water of anything more than a nice hot bath or shower. Dingoes are also nocturnal, and given the opportunity, I'll bed down just shortly after sunrise. Just a lot of similar traits that happen to connect well and remain in the canid species.
I've yet to actually be in a hot, arid climate, but I honestly believe I'd enjoy it. I've been to southern states and genuinely enjoyed it. Perhaps the humidity was a little rough, but I'd take that over this cold winter bullshit I've got right now in Ohio!
Looking cool really wasn't a factor at all. I mean, it's a golden-tan colored canine. Pretty generic, really. But at the same time, it seems everyone in the fandom strives to be 'unique and different', to have some kind of physical trait that sets them apart from anyone else. There are very few dingoes in the fandom to begin with, and even some of them have odd physical characteristics. So I suppose I find my individuality in not trying too hard to be an individual. How very zen!
And honestly, I rarely see dingoes in media such as video games and the like. I just happened to be doing some research, as I stated, and found a canine that very much suited some of my own personality traits, and it's just worked out ever since. =3
I like gryphons...
HELL YES! I love flying!
Yes. I like mountains.
Duh!
Why did you pick the animal you use as a fursona? Because I have an affinity with reptiles as a whole, and I tend to get drawn more towards the bigger, sharp toothed variety. Besides, komodos were the other option, and they just don't appeal to me as much.
Do you connect with your animal? (If you're an otter, do you like to swim? If you're a wolf, do you like to sing and spend time with your family?)I connect with my caiman side in that I tend to be "snappy" if I'm grumpy, and I LOVE meat.
Do you enjoy being in the same habitat that your animal likes? Hmmm, well, if it's like a swamp near the ocean, that would kick ass. Other than that, I'm hesitant.
Did you just choose your animal because it looks cool? Not just because, but it's one of the reasons
Are you a character that was featured on a videogame (IE, Pokemon)? How do you connect to this character? Surprisingly, caiman humanoids are practically non existant in video games. I'm hoping they add one to a game like Bloody Roar. That'd be cool.
Again.
Yes, I emit smell from my rear.
Hidden? I enjoy it.
I chose a skunk just because it looks cool, yeah!
And more or less from movies I saw skunkies.
I picked my animal because foxes have been my favorite animal since I was a kid.
I wouldn't say I connect with my animal on any kind of way that dictates my behavior. I would thinks folks who do though are more prone to choose an animal that suits their personality.
Oddly enough, I do enjoy areas where you might find a fox. I'm pretty sure that this has more to do with the aesthetic beauty of nature than a desire to be in a wild area.
I partially chose a fox because it looks cool. Orange fur, bushy tail, long muzzle. They're cute. Plus I just think they're cool in general.
My character is pretty much me. He just happens to be a fox.
My Answer: It is somewhat a complicated story (not really). For me, my character is one that I consider to be an extention of myself so to speak. Almost like a more "pure" form (due to his almost or near godlike abilities so to help others.)
He is an angelic catguy character.
Question: Why did you pick the animal you use as a fursona?
My Answer: I chose him to be a catguy (not a full furry to some people) For one, I am simply one that likes and is closer to cats. Reason two is that for the longest time I was and still am a fan of Felicia from Darkstalkers/Night warriors.
Question: Do you connect with your animal? (If you're an otter, do you like to swim? If you're a wolf, do you like to sing and spend time with your family?)
My Answer: I am not entirely sure. Granted, there are days where I can sleep from 2AM to around 4 or 5PM. Cats sleep a lot I think, right? At times when around other cats I do this purring sound when petting them and whatnot not to mention it seems cats seem to relax and trust me and whatnot.
Question: Do you enjoy being in the same habitat that your animal likes? (If you're a bear, do you like to be in wooded areas?)
My Answer: I do not know exactly what habitat a cat would be in (depends on cat I suppose.) If just inside... it depends. Sometimes I like being outside. I can withstand cold like crazy but not heat.
Question: Did you just choose your animal because it looks cool?
My Answer: No. The name is another story as I suck at names. The name Alucard (that part) Is based on my like of Alucard from the anime Hellsing as well as Alucard from Castlevania SOTN. The Rezillo part was kinda random. I chose that in Second Life and it has stuck ever since. Of course, I do wonder at times if I were to have my character in the Hellsing universe, what name he could take so it not be so confusing....
Question: Are you a character that was featured on a videogame (IE, Pokemon)? How do you connect to this character?
My Answer: Nope.
-Intergalactic glaucoma is me because I am intergalactic glaucoma.
"Why did you pick the animal you use as a fursona?"
-Because I am intergalactic glaucoma.
"Do you connect with your animal? (If you're an otter, do you like to swim? If you're a wolf, do you like to sing and spend time with your family?)"
-Much like my personality, I am a mass collection of glaucoma across the galaxy.
"Do you enjoy being in the same habitat that your animal likes? (If you're a bear, do you like to be in wooded areas?)"
-I enjoy the cornea for it is a warm residence for degeneration like myself.
"Did you just choose your animal because it looks cool?"
-This offends me greatly. I am intergalactic glaucoma.
"Are you a character that was featured on a videogame (IE, Pokemon)? How do you connect to this character?"
-Yes, it was featured in a video game called "The Intergalactic Glaucoma Strikes Millions of Elderly Citizens on a Galactic Scale" for the Atari 2600. I connect with it because I too afflict many old people and cause their vision to decrease over a period of time.
I am intergalactic glaucoma. Hear me squish.
what the fuck is wrong with me...
Because I am?
"Why did you pick the animal you use as a fursona?"
I'm not a "furry" as such.. I'm therian. Which means there's no picking.. I just am what I am. and I'm an Ocelot. I just happen to be stuck in a human body this time around.
"Do you connect with your animal? (If you're an otter, do you like to swim? If you're a wolf, do you like to sing and spend time with your family?)"
I do carry many of the same characteristics as the ocelot, but there's not much that is that distinct to point out.
Do you enjoy being in the same habitat that your animal likes? (If you're a bear, do you like to be in wooded areas?)
somewhat. I prefer north american forests, but I haven't actually been in the range of my species before, so I can't say for sure.
"Did you just choose your animal because it looks cool?"
again, no choosing was really involved. I mostly stumbled across it, and then it started dawning on me over the next couple of months.
"Are you a character that was featured on a videogame (IE, Pokemon)? How do you connect to this character?"
good lord no.
tra le la. hey, you asked =P
Because I am me. My fursona is not a character but an extension of who I am.
Why did you pick the animal you use as a fursona?
Because I have always had an affinity for canines in general and wolves specifically. One of the best sounds in the world for me is the howl of a wolf. Always feel a special connection when I hear that.
Do you connect with your animal? (If you're an otter, do you like to swim? If you're a wolf, do you like to sing and spend time with your family?)
Yes.
Do you enjoy being in the same habitat that your animal likes? (If you're a bear, do you like to be in wooded areas?)
Definitely like being out in the same habitats.
Did you just choose your animal because it looks cool?
No.
Are you a character that was featured on a videogame (IE, Pokemon)? How do you connect to this character?
Nope.
Now, my Raven has come out and taken a more dominating role. He was my first totem that I discovered. The raven is wise, self knowing. Many things. I have always felt spiritually close to the Raven, and again if Furcadia had avians when i started, I would have started out as a raven. I still reconise and acknowledge the fox and still have traits. But I feel that my fox wants and needs a break and the Raven felt ready to come out and be part of the furry community. As well as that there seems to be an abundance of vulpines about and not enough Corvids let alone avians in the fandom. But I still switch between the two. sort of a shape shifter in a way one might put it.
So yeah. for me the furry fandom was a bit of an outlet for me to be part of my totems; and has been spiritually based.
B) I believe the last point covered this with a "yes". I nap constantly, often seem apathetic or cold (unless I'm in a rare affectionate mood), consider canned tuna one of the cornerstones of civilization, and am endlessly fascinated with dangly things.
C) I was born for the city.
D) Nope. If I wanted cool looking, I'd have gone with a giraffe, or a wallaby. Wallabies are freakin' awesome.
I am very family oriented, which a tiger is not. I guess that's more a lion thing. But I love camping and being in the great outdoors.
My connection with the white tiger has been with me my whole life. I dreamed of my alter-ego since I was a little girl. Now I have a place to make her a reality.
Meh, one of my friends used it, and it fit with my natural personality
Ummm, I like food...
Sure, much better then being in the city sometimes
Nope!
Naw....though it has been in ways.
Cat's love to be taken care of... and I love it.
Do I connect? Oh yes. I wish I could purr.
Small warm places or places where other people can't get.
No.
Well, it is a collab of many of my characters and it is mostly based upon myself.
-not sure really... I've always RPed as a fox
-I guess so
-never really thought about that, but now that I do... absolutely!
-not entirely, no
-ack NO!! lol
XD
2) I Chose Umbreon because Brees are misunderstood Dark Types that are actually quite Noble and use their power to protect those they care for. They are sleek, beautiful, nimble creatures with a cute face that makes them both powerful yet tender when they wish to be. I like the color Black and the rings and eyes stand out beautifully and Brees have some soft sexy paws.
3) I say "Bree, Umbree, and Umbreon!" sometimes. I am nocturnal like an Umbreon and love the Moon. I am mated to an Espeon if that counts, Breeheehee. I protect the ones I care for fervently and do not give up on things I put my mind to.
4) Never saw the inside of a Poke'Ball. A wild Bree would live in wooded areas with streams and fields and that is where I tend to live. I guess I do prefer that setting. A nice walk in the woods across the flowing fields is a wonderfully relaxing experience especially at night under the moonlight.
5) I did choose Brees on their looks but not on their looks alone.
6) Obviously by this point the answer to this question is: Yes. I play Poke'mon games to get into my Breeness as well as watch the Episodes of Poke'mon which include the Eeveelutions to help connect to them. I also write my own Poke'fiction.
Why are you what you are?
I honestly think it suits me pretty well. I like the look, and I like the style. In short, because I want to. Is there a better reason?
Why did you pick the animal you use as a fursona?
I must admit my decision was a little influenced by my mate, but it was my decision. She wasn't certain about Espeon at first, but I won her over quickly. I like Espeon because it is sleek, beautiful, intelligent, and even kickass.
Do you connect with your animal? (If you're an otter, do you like to swim? If you're a wolf, do you like to sing and spend time with your family?)
Well, sadly, I'm not psychic, that I'm aware of, but I'm very intelligent and very curious, both traits that would exemplify an Espeon. In short, yes, I think I connect well.
Do you enjoy being in the same habitat that your animal likes? (If you're a bear, do you like to be in wooded areas?)
I think Espeons like to be indoor cats, and that suits me just fine, though a walk in the woods now and again is fine by me.
Did you just choose your animal because it looks cool?
Kinda... though as I came to know Espeon more and more, I only grew to like it better. And it's not that it just looks 'cool', I like a lot about its appearance and expressiveness. The rest is icing on the cake.
Are you a character that was featured on a videogame (IE, Pokemon)? How do you connect to this character?
Yes, obviously, I'm a Pokemon/Pokemorph, Espeon, the Psychic Evolution of Eevee. I don't think there's much of a difference between connecting with a real animal and connecting with a fictional one.
Consider this: most Furries, even those who connect with real animals have never experienced an encounter with that aimal in person. They know hem only by reputation, so what is the difference between knowing a real fox by reputation and knowing, say, a Vulpix by reputation? If furriness is in the mind of the Fur in question, it doesn't matter if it's a real animal or not.
Oh... and.. yeah, I totally play Pokemon games and watch hte cartoon.
Cause geckos are rare and unique in the fandom, and I like being rare and unique. :)
Why did you pick the animal you use as a fursona?
See question 1. Also, I thought GEX was freaking cool AND sexy, so I had to totally steal his species.
Do you connect with your animal? (If you're an otter, do you like to swim? If you're a wolf, do you like to sing and spend time with your family?)
Connect? No, not really. In all honest I'm nothing like Doral-- I just enjoying playing hir. ALOT. :)
Do you enjoy being in the same habitat that your animal likes? (If you're a bear, do you like to be in wooded areas?)
Hee, geckos are like all over the place, depending on where you live. So, since I like being all over the place, I guess I do. :P
Did you just choose your animal because it looks cool?
Yes-- and also, geckos, character wise, seem to have this very self-aware, conscientious attitude that is both charming, funny, witty, and engaging at the same time. (This may require some explaining-- let me know if you need it. :P)
Are you a character that was featured on a videogame (IE, Pokemon)? How do you connect to this character?
Well, Doral is BASED on a video game, so I kinda do connect at that level. Oddly enough, GEX was kinda like my childhood idle, in a way.
Umm..random toss of the dice? Dun understand this one really
Why did you pick the animal you use as a fursona?
It was actually the result of a really long RP i did years ago that kind of stuck. But I really do like Bunnies anyway so it works for me.
Do you connect with your animal? (If you're an otter, do you like to swim? If you're a wolf, do you like to sing and spend time with your family?)
I guess I do, I'm pretty timid and shy and whatnot, but i like being cute as well!
Do you enjoy being in the same habitat that your animal likes? (If you're a bear, do you like to be in wooded areas?)
Hmm... I guess i don't mind the outdoors really..so ..umm..."I guess?"
Did you just choose your animal because it looks cool?
Nope, RP thing, but hey, Bunnies are super cute anyway so it works!
Are you a character that was featured on a videogame (IE, Pokemon)?
Nope
How do you connect to this character?
Well, Shi is basically me without the restraints "normal" society puts on people, so Yea I really do connect with Hir. Shi is me when I can be free ^_^
I'm what I am because my brain won't shut up... that is, I'm just an artist. I'm one of those poseur furs who doesn't have a "fursona" or a "spirit animal"... I just draw, and animal people rock fucking nuts. Heh, just plain fun.
