Overseas trip and a few things
On November 6th, I'll be going to Bali for 3 days before going to Indonesia for 2-3 months. I'm not that excited, because going to the same place where I got my trust broken and became a shut-in is totally a great idea. :| Well, no helping it. Everything's been finalized, and even though my mother jokes about how I don't want to go, I'm not that stupid to forget that this is the same mother who'd flip her shit if I was serious about not going. Just like how she flipped her shit about my brother staying in Indonesia to be with his (now ex) wife. Well, okay, to be fair, the marriage was doomed to fail, and she was flipping her shit because she doesn't want him to be manipulated or some shit, and to a degree, he did; went hobo and peniless a few weeks after he divorced.
Long story short, I'm (apparently) insulting people for saying I'm too scared to go to Indonesia, arguing that I'm throwing aside a privilege/luxury out of irrational fear. No excuses about "But Banoi is EXACTLY how Indonesia's streets work in a zombpocalypse!". Might as well go. Better off in a deathbed in a foreign birth country, right?
Emo aside, provided I DON'T end up in a hospital deathbed, there's a few things I'm thinking of while I'm away, and considering to do after I come back here:
Commissions
In spite of my terrible luck with being paid cash despite my efforts, I'll try and commit a bit more time on commissions again, especially since I now have a debit mastercard, with minimum rates of $10 for sketches, $15 for inks and $20 for colors. Yep, with prices like that, you might be looking at something like bust shots or half-shots. Of course, I might be doing myself disservice for undercharging, but I've already established that I'm not too sharp about valuing my own skills. If you want to charge more than that, feel free. Keep in mind that I don't want to come off as an overpricing con-artist, hence why the rates are pretty hobo for some of you.
While on the subject of commissions, I'm also thinking about doing 3D commissions. In particular, something like: "Okay, give me the character you want me to translate in 3D, and I'll see if I can turn it into a poseable .obj file, if you can make a blueprint, that'd be even better". With the way I am now, I can only do low-poly (1000 tris, tops) character models with flat-colored textures, nothing detailed like what a lot of people here are doing. The tricky thing about this is that I don't know how much more I should charge people for this. I'm tempted to say $35 minimum, but again, aforementioned undercharging. Maybe people don't mind spending $100 for a blocky model that you'd see in a late-cycle Dreamcast game? I dunno. What I do know is that I'd supply clients with the model's .obj, textures, screencaps, and .max and .biped files for anyone who has 3DS Max when I'm done. Call me a pessimist, but a large chunk of 3D commissions I've seen are zbrush sculptures, right down to the last wrinkle on a character's penis... so... I'm just putting on my Assumption Hat and just think that there's not much customer appeal in low poly tits. I'd love it if I was wrong on this regard.
Payment? Uhh... Not sure yet. I know I got a debit card I'm supposed to fill up with profit money, so no more need for western union or complicated money postage things, at least for now. I don't know what payment model people would like though, i.e. pay-half-in-advance. Maybe if I don't get anything done within 6-12 months, I'll see if I can refund the advance payment?
Other sites
Aside from FA, I've been suggested to post in DA again, and also the occasional InkBunny postage. *sigh* This is something for me to consider because there are people who'd shit on someone else out of association or usage of certain things like the aforementioned sites, be it out of jocosity or out of pure unleaded haterade. My inner wallbanger says, "you're going to die anyway, just fucking post on all of them". To which I said, "Alright, fine, let me make something pretty first. Pretty enough that it's not a sketch with a blank background like I always do."
Money quota
This is more of a self-memo: I need to reach the AUD$3000 mark ASAP. There's something interesting I want to try out, but it's pretty flipping expensive. I just hope that this particular thing still exists or has birthed later-generation versions by the time I've amassed that insane amount of money. Kinda tempted to go to the casino and find a Blackjack table, or a pub with a Blackjack machine. The utter confusion I got when I tried a real slot machine was pretty priceless... and aggravating, in the sense of "Why the fuck do slot machines have to be so complicated?".

Now that I've forgotten what else I need to say, I damn well hope I don't go insane midway into this trip because of LOLFILIALPIETY or LOLYOUDONEGOTMUGGEDSON or LOLYOUGONGITRAEPD
