October Recap

Hello all!
Since I have a few people watching me, and some recently expressed concern about my well being, I thought I would write a little bit about what has happened this month. While I do have a Livejournal and Twitter, not everyone that watches me on those services watches me here.
This month has been very eventful, to say the least. For background, for most of the month I have been working 10 hour long shifts at work, with three days off as a weekend. My hours were usually 7:30PM to 6AM. I usually end up sleeping most of Friday, or at least this is why I am usually up at night.
Some good things this month have been that I bought a tv for my room, so I can play more games without using the family tv. I also got my hair redyed, and everyone seemed to really like the color. My hair salon was holding a raffle, and I managed to win two free guitar lessons with my mom's stylist's husband. Elsewhere I also lessons in bartending, where the school also apparently will help you get SafeServ Alcohol certification and get a job through them.
Unfortunately there is bad news to counter these good things. First off is my workplace. At the beginning of last week there was a notice going around of customers were going to stop servicing, which was a big red flag to my team since that is what we do at night. Then there was a mandatory meeting that Friday, where it was announced that they are cutting half of their business and whittling the company down to 18 employees total. I did make the cut, but the rest of my team did not. The following Monday we learn that my team's supervisor has found another job and his last day is Friday, so now the current team is disbanded. My schedule will now be 3PM to 11:30PM, five days a week... for the interim. This will probably change again. Unfortunately I can't ask when or how since my boss and the HR manager are on vacation in India until the middle of November. ...
Secondly, yesterday I was making a turn onto a bridge over a major highway, lost control of my car on black ice, and slid the car into the curb/sidewalk. I am extremely thankful I didn't go off the bridge (which has been a fear of mine for ages!), but now I am going to have a $2000 repair bill. Outside of the wheel that was hit, the car physically looks fine, but not fit to drive since that wheel's control arm and other parts are totally messed up. I am also completely fine, and I think overall in this I was extremely lucky that it wasn't any worse, since many of my friends are telling me about how they totalled their cars in similar situations.
There are also some other things going on in my home life, but they are not worth going into in this summary. While I still have a job (and my health!), car repairs and tvs and other things are not cheap, and all the changes at work make me very concerned that I will get a significant pay cut even if I don't get laid off. I have enough saved to take care of myself, but that doesn't really make me any less anxious. I do have 3 commissions in the fire right now to look forward to, but after that I may have to take a break from such things.
So right now the future is a bit hazy, but hopefully things aren't as bad as they seem. I am also trying to figure out what I want to do with this account, be it post more gift art or start drawing and writing more myself. If anyone has comments there, I am happy to hear them. :)
Take care all, and hopefully any reports in the future will be more upbeat. :)
