My jobs are the same way though. I have 2 jobs and work basically 6 days a week, and ALWAYS saturdays and sundays. Though I'm socially screwed up too, I figured wth try something different and requested off to hit a couple of conventions and met some cool people.

The only time I could have off would be the dark dank dead tail-end of winter. And no one wants to do anything in the middle of February.

Yes, weekend working really limits friendships.

Oh I went to 3 cons this year. First one was all "ooooook this is an odd and different environment and I know 0 people." Second one was "hey guys we meet again! Let's have some fun!" 3rd one a couple weeks ago was "I've known you guys for a while now, I'm really comfortable here now, let's have the best weekend ever!" I still find a good portion of conventions very odd and weird and areas I won't touch, but I now have a core group of friends that I see at cons. Though probably won't go to one until Anthrocon next June, I will hopefully be able to see some now away from cons that I've developed a friendship with them over the course of 3 con weekends.

Well that's pretty fantastic for you. :) Awesome that you could make and keep friends in such a unique way. I guess I'd never thought how you'd meet the same people year after year.

That's great to hear. This whole time, I would of never really know what you even think about me. I'm keep thinking to myself that I'm annoying.
