I pretend to know what I'm talking about, man, but EDM is freaking hard to categorize sometimes.

EDM is Electronic Dance Music. Its the same as Electronic music, or in other words the overarching genre for trance/techno/ect.
IDM is a subgenre of Either techno or breakbeat. I forget right now. XD
Im about 90% certain thats just techno though. What subgenre is beyond me
