Well, fuck. Thank to FA's retarded policies: NO BUTT ICONS.
Three days ago, I mentioned this in my journal: "I'm surprised that FA has allowed me to keep my current icon, because I'm pretty sure that icons are not supposed to show mature content. I'll probably remove it soon, just to be safe". Today, I got a note saying it's been removed. I take it that means one of my watchers reported it? >__> It wouldn't be the first time.
Here's the problem: I just noticed a recent change to FA's icon policy. "Avatars must not be sexually suggestive in nature". That means that my butt icons are now considered inappropriate, and therefore, none of us can use them on this site. Of course, I can still make them for anyone that shows interest, but I assume most users will want to display them here on FA. Which kinda ruins the purpose of selling them on this site in the first place. -__-
Luckily, FA has a suggestions forum, so I proposed a solution to the admins. I'd love it if you guys could give my thread a little attention. :3

Here's a little rant detailing why I think censorship is so fucking stupid. First of all, this is a site that's primarily used for furry porn. Sure, there are artists who upload only clean stuff, and this site is supposed to be 13+. Thing is, it's not. When over half of the users on the site are porn artists... as surprising as it may be (note the intended sarcasm), that's not a family-friendly website. Also, there's an option available in everyone's Account Settings that can prevent the user from viewing any mature submissions; why not make that option apply to icons too? If the user selects that they don't want to view mature stuff, block adult drawings AND icons. Problem solved!
Buuuuut no, things just aren't that simple. -__- The world (well... mainly the U.S.) insists on censorship. For nearly two years, my icon has shown my fursona sticking his butt up in the air in a pose clearly suggesting buttsecks... yet I add a pair of balls to it and it's deemed inappropriate. Stupid much? I've always opposed censorship strongly, especially when it's used in such a stupid manner. One of my stamps got permanently tagged as "adult artwork" on DeviantART because it said "Sarcastic Bitch" in bold letters. ...Really? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that "bitch" is used by people under the age of 18 quite frequently. Observe any 7th grade class for a day and you'll probably hear that word used quite a few times.
I also think that nudity should not be labeled as adult content. After all, we all have genitals. Animals have genitals. Fucking FLOWERS have genitals. Why is it considered so inappropriate? I'll refer to the ancient Greeks here, even though their society was a bit different from ours; I just read Aristophanes' play "The Clouds", in which a character criticizes a lifestyle that's slowly edging toward censorship. He mentions that Greek males used to train in the nude at the gynasium, sometimes even showing off their junk if it was especially good-looking, but now they're "embarrassed the sight of their own manly meat". The ancient Greeks were actually proud of their genitals, and didn't see the need to cover them up in embarrassment. Nowadays, mothers scream in fear at the thought of their beloved children even glimpsing a penis. It's ridiculous. We all have genitals, seeing a picture of a penis or a vagina is NOT going to scar someone for life. Nudity should be rated like 14+ at best. Besides, most kids start looking at porn when they're 11 or 12 anyways.
Additional note: I do think pictures depicting sexual acts are a little different than simple nudity. Porn should be rated 16+, maybe 17.
Then there's the matter of people reporting supposedly inappropriate artwork to the site admins. I highly doubt that they have time to browse random users' accounts, looking for policy violations, which means that someone actually takes the time to report these things to the admins. >__> My question is: Why? Do they think they're doing some civilian duty by reporting offensive material to the admins, and therefore bettering the community? From my point of view, they're like a prison snitch, or that little runt that reminds the teacher that they forgot to give everyone homework -- all they do is ruin it for everyone else. So to the asshole that reported my icon to the admins, and to the other asshole who reported me for being under 18 a couple years ago: Fuck you both.
/end of rant
If you actually read this far, thanks for caring about what I have to say. xD I don't expect many people do.

FA+

I swear it's like not even suggestive, unless you find yourself staring at the icon and pawing off or whatever. I thought it was actually sort of cute and silly when I first saw it.
I support the rule about icons. Regardless of what 13 year-olds might do in their own time, that doesn't mean its right for adult images to be everywhere when they have age-locked accounts and can't view adult artwork normally. Not to mention, I dont feel like looking at someone's balls whenever I log in and check comments. If I want to see balls, I will click on someone's adult artwork submission.
The butt icons were cute. I still have mine and I like it, though I don't consider it to be an advertisement for "butt sex" I just think its a cute fluffy canine booty. Adding balls makes it mature and not something everyone (including me) wants to have to look at.
If the site gets changed so that you can "turn off" mature icons, then great. But if not, great too. Keep in mind, nobody forces you to use this site. You don't pay to be here and post your artwork.
hadn't really seen anything at all before then
I do think that the person who reported you was trolling. Plain and simple. Or it was a coincidence that some admin saw your journal. Hell, maybe the FA staff have some sort of filter that alerts them when certain words, terms or sentences are used.
I don't know what to say though. You could still make the butt icons with or without the balls for people to use else where. Or use as a cover art for their poetry, stories or music.
Still....it does suck that they took it down. I liked it <3
I agree about censorship, but I disagree with your way of going about it. What FA did was the right business move and the best move for the furry fandom.
On the whole, only about 20% of the work on this site is furry porn. Furry porn simply has the biggest market.
You cant add a feature without making big Problems here, it would be possible that user could have a "13+" "Mature" and "Adult" icon at the same time, sure, BUT you have to change nearly anything on the Database and stuff, thats nearly impossible to do...
And i agree that rule is stupid, its like those "are you over 21? Yes/No" buttons on that everybody under 21 klicking on yes...
I honestly wouldn't say that your icons are sexual enough to be "not allowed," considering they're not jiggly, or bouncing, or thrusting... they're just sitting there.
So I still want mine, and I'd still use it. :P (without the balls on FA).
Hmm... but yeah, putting the name there isn't sexual, so I think that would work. :0
Then again, there's a distinct reason I almost never use the FA forums...
