am not a suiter but laundry softener could maybe solve this problem, but it'll make the furr less poofy i guess

I would be careful with fabric softener. I was told by other fursuiters that it can damage the fake fur. Still need to test this on a piece of scrap fur to find out....

The drier sheets is a good idea. I store my suit with them in the paws, feet and head. The body is kept hug in a canvas garment bag.

Yeah, I think since I use Woolite, the softener part is pretty good already. Dryer sheet and static spray are sounding best. That or just leaving it and doling people when I hug them. :P

Removing static can be tough. I would usually just shake it out or touch it to a grounded surface or something. Also, I'm be at MFF too! Can't wait to see you there! :D

Dry rubbing a dryer sheet on them. I usually trough my suits on air dry in the dryer with a sheet or two and they are fine!

what he said is the best option. take a dryer sheet or two and rub the dry static-ingrained suit with them all over it.

petting them with dryer sheets will also make a long haired cat or dog freak out less during a thunderstorm. they freak out partially because of the static.

As per my maker I turn mine inside out, macine wash on gentle, I add a little fabric softner, pull out leave it inside out for a few hrs to air dry inside, then turn it right side out to air dry, I use a regular comb or a dog brush(i use...well its a large brush and bristles are plastic and spaced kinda far apart) and lightly brush it out, never had static, and youve seen mine..shaggy shaggy,fur

I just don't trust the machine. I worry about something getting caught and ripping. When I rinse I only rinse and spin. I dunno, perhaps I am just overly cautious. Thanks.

Thats why I use gentle cycle...idk if this makes a difference or not but I also spritz my suit with a compound called "natures miracle" can get in pet stores, might help with static, but also helps keep suit lookimg and smelling clean durimg cons and such

I had this problem with my fox once or twice. I sprayed a light mist of static guard on him to bring it down.

Look in dollar stores, I would say that's the best place to look.

I would avoid adding any liquid fabric softener, as it alters the fur texture. Generally, the static is put into the suit by the repeated motion of the brushing, and possibly the spinning, if the washing machine isn't grounded properly. I'd lean toward saying that the brushing would be the main cause. Using a brush of another material might help. Doing the brushing while you are grounded could help. Standing in your bare feet in direct contact with uninsulated ground perhaps. It would allow some of the charge to bleed out as you did the brushing. Drag the suit over a clean metal cold water pipe, as that would be grounded, and should drain the charge. This is more of a problem in the colder months, when the humidity is lower, as dry air holds a charge a lot easier.

Another option is to lick yourself clean, as other squirrels do! :)

I would say a dryer sheet rubbed down on him would do wonders. One or two strokes does wonders for our cats in the winter!

and i put my suit in the machine and use any detergent i have on hand XD

also i used fabric softner and so far now issues

but i flip mysuit inside out and such

and i fill the washer with water and the detergent and softner first

first time i washed it i put the suit in then water and then the liquids

so had to rewash it cause my chest fur was blue from pouring the softner on it >.<

didnt stain it though..just had to do another cycle XD

For all the attention and abuse I dish out - particularly to small innocent critters - I can take it!

Honestly I flip my bodysuit inside out and throw it in the washer, delicate cycle with a shot of Woolie. I then spin cycle an additional time after the wash is finished, then hang it up in the closet with fans on it, still inside out, until it is dry. Last furbowl I flipped it around, right side up, and it needed no brushing, static free, and smelled great. Feetpaws and head I just handwash with a cloth.

I've tried brushing it out while it was damp and I did get a lot of static.. I think that by keeping it flipped upside down the fur settled downwards and dried in a way that it didn't need any brushing.. Just my experience any way.

Try brushing your suit out only when it's completely dry. -shrug-
