Amsterdam trip diary.
I'm in Amsterdam with our two drawing classes. Every other shop on the street of the hotel is a weed shop, and then there's the "gay cinema" and "dirty dicks" across the street, and our neighbour the creepy leather&rubber shop and this cozy Irish pub from which I am writing now. Basically it's difficult to find regular groceries, but diamonds and drugs are readily available
The bus trip down here was tough as was difficult to get any sleep, but it did not prevent me from enjoying the beautiful van Gogh museum today. They also had an exhibition on old Japanese prints and who had been inspired by them among Vincent and his contemporaries.
Cheers!

Sorry about all the mess and construction work, only another decade till we're done.
I can say with confidence that after living here for a few years you'll develop a blindspot for those kind of stores - allthough the one that used to have a glow-in-the-dark dildo on a velvet cushion in the shop window, and nothing else, always put a smile on my face. :)
I'm not very moved by Van Gogh myself, but I would recommend the Rijksmuseum if you have the time for it, even though half of it is closed for renovations.
That's what we are seeing tomorrow :) gonna check in relatively early so I can recover and be fresh. Classic paintings are a bit heavy.
I really like van Gogh myself, he paints in this drawing like way that I'd like to get to know more.
