poor Simi, did you muse go off on a holiday like mine did 2 years ago? I'm still waiting for mine to come back as are those that have enjoyed my stories so far.
I know what that's like, Simmy. You should try just writing and seeing what comes out, no matter what 'it' is. Just write for the sake of writing, and maybe it will help free up your creativity.
Find out what your muse likes and seduce him/her mercilessly with it. Mine goes for fires in the woodstove, large pools/bodies of water, new age music, and tea. Depending on the season and location, I can usually swing at least one of those. >^_^<
And then take whatever comes. I've found that if I humor myself and write down anything that shows up, no matter how stupid I may secretly think it to be, that can kind of unlock things -- sort of like my mind realizes "oh, okay, we're not going to laugh at anything... really? well, okay then... well, here's this thing, even though it's kind of strange... and then there's this..." And one of those things is usually worth pursuing.
To continue the metaphor, some muses are timid and hypersensitive creatures. I think it may have been Ursula K. LeGuin who compared writing a story to trying to coax feral kittens out from under the sofa... you wait quietly and patiently and put out little bits of chicken. >^_^<

But, I think I'm just in a 'bleh' mood right now. That always kills my writing drive.
