Well today right when I got to work my unfaithful friend Craptop died. It won't turn on at all. My dad called the laptop guy and we THINK we can recover all the files which is my biggest hope because I have 3 art pieces I am working on on there, and a ton of important pictures. My dad proceeded to take my craptop friend apart, he took out its brains and gave me its Heart (the harddrive) to take to microcenter to hopefully get a case put on it so it can be transferred to a new laptop if I can get one. I have no idea how I will afford one right now. Sucks so bad. Things were turning around and now this.. UGH BUT there is some light at the end of this tunnel! My mate finally got a new job, and it is a manager position so he will be making much more than at this other job! HOPEFULLY that can help us pay our rent and get groceries once he starts getting paid and we can finally save more for his teeth to get fixed! Just bear with me though. I luckily have been doing most of my art on my desktop at home, but I was using my craptop to also work on things during my part time job, to hopefully get things done faster. ANYWAYS this JUST happened thought I'd update you all. Using the slow ass crappy old DELL desktop at work to type this. Sad face!!!

good news we were able to recover the files! Now hopefully I can get a new laptop one of these days!

I have a craptop too and it will have to do for the time being but I want a laptop not a craptop. This craptop was once a laptop but there is so much crap on it now it should be classified as a craptop as well. Sorry to hear about the loss of your not so great friend there, Shottsy. :c *gives big smooshy dragon hugs*

LOL yea it really has pretty much been a craptop since I got it. I didn't complain too much though because it was originally a gift from my dad which was so nice of him, but the thing has hated me since day one. THEN I find out that pretty much everyone who had that brand has complained. Sucks but oh well, I need to invest in a good one with a good graphics card that can handle photoshop.

hey if you can get http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applicati.....amp;CatId=3770 and can pull the hard drive out of the system, then you can connect it to a PC and pull off the files.

Why didn't you guys call me? If you don't get a soultion by tomorrow then just stop at our house I've got all the tools to pull the HD and get your files back Shana. If it's something simple too I can probably fix it that night. Seriously, don't waste your money by taking it somewhere until I get a good look at it.

Thanks so much! It happened while at work, my dad just sent me over to microcenter to get a case for the hardrive was 6 bucks, and he pulled it for me. I didn't know he knew how to do that. Would have been over 50 to have someone else pull it so all my files are thankfully intact, but now I need a new laptop and don't know what kind to even look into that would be worth it. I need a machine that would be good for gaming as well as art with a good graphics card. my dad MAY help with it a bit but not sure. Otherwise I am going to have to save up somehow. Now that Randy has his new job though it may not be so bad since I wont have to pay ALL our bills. Sucks though, I can't work on my art at work until I get a new one, nor can I work at night when Randy has to go to bed early, so it is pretty dire that I get a new one. ESPECIALLY before my Joe Murray class starts in January.

Bummer.
I know how that is. I had an old desktop, which was my ONLY computer at the time, that out of nowhere decided to up and die on me. I wasn't using it for art at all, it was a LOOOONG time before I even discovered the furry fandom, however I was using it a lot for school, and stored a LOT of photos and home videos.
It ended up taking me about a year I think in order to get a job, and get enough to buy my laptop, so I'd have my own PC again, and it took I think three or four years to have the data pulled from my old desktop, to be put onto another old desktop. Of coarse by then, all the school documents were useless, but I got all my photos, videos and music back.
Now I keep everything backed up on an external hard drive.
