… feels that the time they spent earning a degree was lost time because either they're working a job that has nothing to do with their degree, or worse: they're working a job that doesn't require a degree at all?
I guess I'm lucky. I just spent years earning a degree in electronics and, even if I ended up never getting a job involving electronics, I still have a job. For which I have none of the qualifications required. Yay irony.

I'd really like you to know how it feels, to open a machine you've made years ago, to hear what people think about it, to know it to the very bits, where to tweak the next hardware version and what to reinforce... To feel like a bloody veteran. No school can give you that, and unemployment is the real killer.
That's right: You're partially responsible for my failing in life.
