I called tech support and told them what you wanted to do and they said to unplug your mouse and plug it back in again, press ctrl-alt-del, then restart your computer.

A few more details are needed to make a good recommendation. First, is it a laptop or a desktop hard drive. Second, might you be able to tell what connector your current hard drive uses?

Well, if your computer uses all modern standards, then the best and fastest drive for your money that I know of is the western digital 1tb caviar black drive. Western digital is a very reliable brand from my experience.

well thats what eagle bird recommended, I already use 3 of those for data (two 2tB drives for Data and 1 500GB for windows) and thats what I'm using now for windows, but its still to slow, I can be flexible with the price tag I was looking at a western digital velociraptor 150GB HDD

Well if that is still too slow, then my recommendation would be either the drive you're looking at or the patriot wildfire 120gb. Both have quite good performance, but if you can and are willing to put the extra money forward, the wildfire would be the better choice of the two.

Gparted for cloning, but you need to know for sure which drive is which and where you're copying to/from. With a new disk, it'll be empty anyway so it's not hard to tell.

As for the disk itself, "high speed" and "less than $200" typically implies ~7200RPM. Definitely not solid state if >100GB.

thats pretty much what I got now. XD I can be flexible with the price and size if I have to, I really need at least more then 50GB I was also looking at the western digital velociraptor 150GB HDD I'm not sure about solid state, I don't really have any experience about them.

I've found the company Maxters (which is now Seagate) to make pretty reliable hard drives. As for copying over the windows etc. you could try cloning. You would have to look it up more though, and it sounds difficult.
