That's a very interesting thing. Sad...I haven't had a chanced to be walked in public. But I've worn my collar and harness on occasion ^^ Most don't notice it. But my family hates it.
I wear my collar almost all the time. Unfortunately I have been forbidden to wear it at work -_-' As for walks, sadly My Master does not live near me, but when he visits I have expressed interest in the idea.
My family hates my collar too, and they do not even know what it is for haha
My collar isnt built to handle a leash, too thin. I have been walked befor though, wheni has my older collar, before it broke. My master used a wallet chain as my leaah XD
Collars are great in public, but as far as actually walking with a leash, I think it all depends on where and obviously how it's being done.
I've tried walking my mate around where I live and usually it's not a problem, however, at the mall the security guards insist that I cannot do it. Even though we are not giving off any sexual vibes or acting in an inappropriate way, the guards have demanded that we stay off the leash. I've only tried walking him twice, but the mallcops give us dirty looks now even though we haven't tried since then and he hasn't even had his collar on. >:C
I think leashes in public are fine as long as the couple is keeping in mind if there are children around, and also other people. Overdoing the lovey-dovey thing is obnoxious with or without a leash, but I've seen couples use it as a REASON to be all over each other.
Obviously, leashes (and sometimes collars, depending on how it looks) should be used with extreme discretion in professional environments. I would NEVER dare to walk my mate on his leash at his Navy base!
I really like public walks, though. It's a relaxing way to stay connected on a different level than just holding hands. Outside of that one security guard, we've only gotten two other negative responses . Most people who do choose to approach us are more curious than anything.
you make a good point. regardless of intentions, it can always be taken the wrong way. i haven't had any actual problems with mine yet, but i'm sure it will happen at some point.
i agree, though, on the connection. i find it very comforting.
My master's clipped a thin leash or ribbon to a loop in my bracelet before- I love it. It seems more socially acceptable, and I still feel loved and protected and lead.
I actually have mixed feelings on it. I'm a Security Officer at a large public shopping center (Movie Theater, restaurants, multiple big name stores.) and our poilcy is that anything which a reasonable person could consider sexual is forbidden. I asked as a hypothetical and my supervisor said that the wearing of a collar with a leash attached could be considered such. I figure that if you're in public and there's a possibility of such confusion occurring, it's best to avoid the trouble.
However, I have worn my collar in public and been walked. Mostly in Fursuit but, my mate has walked me to and at various parties. We went to a Halloween party this year and I was her pet Werewolf. It was a True Blood themed party so she was a Vamp and, as I said, I was her pet.
I have traveled many places and on this subject it depends on were you are at. Cons are fine and I have never had any problems about doing so there. But i would say a park is dangerous territory. Do to the fact of children. But the problem is that most people see a collar and leash as a sexual thing and it was not just fetishes that busted that one. People put collar and leashed to dogs and think the person is being treated as suck. I have been in airports with a collar on(Has a collection of them and loves getting collars). I have had some problems there. I would say a bracelet with a D-ring on will work just fine. You can attach anything to the D-ring and most people look at someone being lead by the bracelet as "Cute". I like being on a collar and leash in public but it all depends on were you are at.

and yea, my family never really got how important the collar was
My Mom: "That collar makes you look like you belong to someone - it's degrading!"
Me (In My Head): "I do, and it isn't degrading in the least!"
