Not sure what a Torii is? Its certainly worthwhile knowing, especially with relevance to Shinto
A Torii is essentially a gate to a shinto shrine, and sort of resembles a archway.

In custom, they represent transference to the sacred area, which is the sacred shrine.

I've seen a lot of these when I went to Japan. They're everywhere when you travel to more rural areas in the country. And of course, they're beautiful, even if they're centuries old. XD
