I can't say for sure, as I haven't played Skyrim, but if it's the same as Oblivion (which, after looking at the Elder Scrolls wiki, it appears to be), higher conjure skill means decreased spell cost but no increased stats.

The only good reasons I can think of for using conjured weapons in this case is to decrease the weight you carry on a regular basis (since conjured weapons have 0 weight and you won't be carrying a weapon around), prevent the need to repair your weapons, and ignore the need for arrows (since conjured bows come with conjured arrows). Plus, if there are any summon spells you want, using bound weapons increases both the weapon's skill and the conjure skill.

When I played Oblivion, though, yeah, I never used conjured weapons; I always enchanted all my equipment to increase my strength so I could carry more stuff and do more melee damage >.>

I'd like to know as well, as i frequently conjour my bound sword XD (lvl60ish conjour, 50ish 1h). I know that the soul trap and oblivion binding is mad useful though.

As for increased stats, i'm not sure; it seems to be stronger than my skyforged steel sword (fine). Dunno how it puts up against an ebony sword though.

There's perks in the Conjuration tree that increase the damage of bound weapons.

I have that, my conjured sword which hit for 20 damage, now hits for 48. Where as my Ebony blade hits for 68 :P

Fair enough! The advantage of bound weapons at least is that (afaik) you can never be disarmed when using one. Plus, zero weight, so you can have more space to haul around five million potions and tons of pointless crap that you might need at some point :D

I think the best melee weapon I've got atm is an Elven War Axe, so the bound sword hits for more, plus it's faster (Daggers > Swords > Axes > Maces, in order of speed), though I've got an Ebony Bow which is hella good for sniping :D
