Man, I completely agree with that. I wouldn't say I get 'offended' if people say I'm talented, but it feels like an unintentional dismissal of all the hard work and practice I have put into making myself appear 'talented.'

I would say that talent is the end result of practice and a powerful force, personally. It would be a treat to be complimented as talented because it's just an easy way to tell someone they've done good things... at least this is the way I see it!

I don't know who would use the word in a negative light, but it's definitely a lot easier to tell someone they're talented over expressing the other aspects of artistry that goes into it!

The way I see it is that people put themselves down and put other on pedestals with the word. That person is talented, I'm not. Bullshit. Work as hard as they do and pay attention to what you're doing and you can go as far as you want. There are truly brilliant people, but 99.99% of the time...

Oh yeah, I definitely hear you on that one! Admittedly, I am guilty of that myself! But I feel like when I give it honest efforts I can do very well for myself as well! I AM WILLING TO GO THE DISTANCE I just need my schedule to agree to let me.
