The gameplay videos I've seen didn't really impress me, and until I find an MMO that impresses me, I'm not spending a subscription fee. My impressions may change as I look into it more, but I can't say I've sen anything I haven't seen before except branching dialogue leading to potentially different quests for the "main" storyline.

Out of curiosity though, what side/class are you playing?

I saw the Developer's Playthrough a couple years back and it was enough to get me excited, and I have been excited for about 2 years now waiting for this

The beta alone has got me hooked, I can't wait <3

The cinematic trailers have been amazing for sure. I guess I'm also a little sore on the fact that it's using the engine made by Simutronics, whom custom built the game engine for their own MMO, Hero's Journey, which I was really looking forward to and had been following for years, likeing everything I saw...everything. The project got "backburnered" (Read: canned) when several companies, including Bioware took one look at it and said, "We'll pay you top dollar for it now", when Simutronics wasn't going to sell it until after their own game was released. But it's a small company, and with all that cash in their faces, Hero's Journey got canned, the material created now just marketing material, and everybody in the company is working on the engine, leaving no one for the game.

I don't look into back stories for game development much, if at all :V I just enjoy my games for what they are

Yeah, that's a good way to do things. It's just annoying when one game gets canned to make way for another. I'd been following Hero's Journey and the Hero Engine, reading all the updates and such, and one of the last updates was Bioware lisencing the Hero Engine for their own game, which became TOR.

Still, now that it's getting close to release, I'll take another look at it. If it catches my eye, I'm sure you wouldn't mind a smuggler joining you .

I actually tried the smuggler out earlier, they're actually pretty fun and the dialogue (Which is unique for each class too) is pretty witty and funny

When I started in the beta, I was well prepared to go major into DPS, loved playing a lock in wow, but in the process I found I really like tanking.

Very likely on release, my main will be a Sith Assassin. Also I finally hit 30 today in Alderaan. ^_^

I'm in the same boat, actually. I already have the game on pre-order, but after playing the BETA it's pretty obvious I'm gonna need to upgrade before the release date. Thankfully I was already planning to do so anyway :V

Beta's downloading for me and is taking it's sweet time. I underestimated the download time!!

The game is ~20GB, it took me about a day and a half at ~300KB/s

That's the only downside to the beta.

Is it still good after EA bought up Bioware, cause everyone nows that EA only makes shit to drench peoples money

That whole bit with EA buying up Bioware is a big confusing mess, but Bioware managed to come out of it with more than what they came in with. Though EA may have Bioware as a subsidiary, Bioware's reign of influence has spread immensely since '09. Dr. Ray Muzyka has already stated that Bioware has full control over what they do.

around here in germany it looks like EA had make Tor to an comercial mess already.... all that Preordering stuff and the kind of preodering versions you could order here are grown up more and more since EA bought bioware...

EA does that with just about anything that will make them money. Just remember that Bioware won't take any crap from them. That right there speaks volumes.

Believe me, EA's shitty repetitiveness hasn't shone through on this game. Imagine Mass Effect, crossed with WoW, and make it Star Wars

I've been in the beta for a good 5 or 6 months now. With each build that has come out, I thought to myself Damn, can they make this any better. Of course there have been countless bugs that you don't need to hear about, but what is in store for all of you is immensely satisfying. IF any of you are on the Leviathan server this weekend, I don't mind a little in game chat. I play under the name Knapaxe.

I'd be happy to! Though if you're willing to then we should organize a server to play on and host this guild :D

At launch, I'm committed to a guild with friends from Massachusetts and Florida. If any of you played on the Dentarg, aka Deadtard, server in WoW, we were Raging Inferno. I'll definitely be doing alts, since I fell in love with the smuggler story in the last build. I'll keep alts open if I find there is a furry guild starting up.

I'm really looking forward to this MMO ^^
I haven't tried out the beta unfortunately but I know the final release is gonna be fantastic =D

I just hope the servers aren't too overwhelmed to start with, right now there's a lot of wait times

The wait time aren't as bad as the last beta weekend. Then it was closer to an hour and a half just to get to character selection.

Yeah, thankfully though there's still plenty of servers with no wait time

IF I had the money I would pre-order it right now...but I don't and so I am sad, stupid launcher needing to update! why you not working beta launcher!

Somewhat dissapointed with this game.

Admittedly it was a bit hyped up, sure, but I'm happy with it

I'd be interested... issue is, i'd need a better computer first, but chances are i'm getting that sometime soon

Also, as hyped up as it was, I have to say its at least better than WoW, which needs to meet its long awaited end... I'm sorry to WoW lovers, I play it too but... it needs to die out.

let me know when you decide on a server, depending on the side you're on, i'll either be a smuggler, agent, bounty hunter, or... well practically anything sith :| lol....

I'll be upgrading as well, this makes a few games that my current PC can't handle, so I'm definitely going to be upgrading in the next few weeks (Hopefully before release)

I also agree,m I like this game a lot more than WoW, simply for the fact that, thanks to the actual voice acting and cinematic conversations, it's a lot easier to get into the story and really connect with your character. Actually seeing your character talk and responding in the way you choose immerses you into the game more and really makes you feel like you're interacting with the world

Been playing on the beta quite a bit recently. Nothing hardcore (I'm waiting for release: Don't really want to spoil myself too much.)

But. Let me know what you decide to do: I'll probably create something there as I don't know many that will be playing. ^^ Probably a Jedi Guardian/ Vanguard Trooper as tanking is my forte.

I'm doing the same, for now just testing out classes and seeing what would be worth sticking with on release (Which so far is every class lawl :V)

And yeah, Jedi Consular was going to likely be my main, and I'll keep a Bounty Hunter/Sith Warrior aside for those sadistic moods~
Dangerously Furry however will likely be on the Republic side :3 Seems everyone wants to play republic

I'm more than willing to play either side : Juggernaught or Bounty would be my Sith Empire choices. ;P

The best way to make friends is to go out and meet them. I don't see a better way than to get out and get involved. :>
