Holiday Wish List
General
Hey guys, I got the same idea from Gen and Vinci, and I know this seems a bit redundant, and I don't expect anything from anyone and I'm unsure if I'll be able to give to anyone, but I always saw this as a fun thing to do. And maybe someone else could be able to help make your wish come true by posting a link to your wishes in the doobly-doo below (Comments if you didn't get that)
The Holiday Wishlist Instructions:
Step 1
Make a post in your journal containing your list of 10 holiday wishes.
If you wish for real-life things, make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where folks could get in touch with you.
Step 2
Surf around other lists to see who has posted their list. If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true.
As for my own wishlist:
1. I know this is something no one can physically be able to give me, but after overcoming and still kind of dealing with a bunch of my own problems including my drug addiction, bulimia/anorexia, depression, unemployment, my loss of faith in humanity, and my father's death, I'd just kind of like a fresh new start, to just open another new chapter in my life and be able to sustain it. A new job would especially help, and I'm in the process of getting one, I may end up doing temporary work training fro a couple months. So please just send me some good vibes and prayers or something, it would really help me.
2. Another thing I'm not sure you'd be able to help with, I know I keep talking about the idea of starting a new webcomic, and I still haven't been able to come up with much, so I'd just like some inspiring words or some encouragement, or maybe some advice on where I could get started.
3. I started getting into collecting some antiques, for some reason, I like stuff that's much older than I am, like in the 30 yrs.-100+ yrs. range, especially if there's some history behind the item or if it could be potentially worth something that I could resell it, cause I could really use the money right now. I'm especially into things like pottery and glassware, furniture with curves or something unique, I could go on forever, but yeah, I like really thrifty things like that. It doesn't have to be really valuable or anything like that, and just because it could be worth a lot doesn't mean I'd sell it, depending on it's uniqueness.
4. I'm also into collecting coins, especially if they're old, rare and potentially worth more than face value. I would probably sell them since I'm poor, but it would make a huge difference in morale. Plus being able to do some research on the coins is a very enriching learning experience.
5. I would like Skyrim just to see what all the hype is about.
6. I wouldn't normally ask this, but I would also like some money just so I can have enough to be able to put it in a bank account so I can be more active here online.
7. Some quilting materials would also be nice, even if some of them are scraps, I'd still like to do something cool with them, all I ask is it be 100% cotton because that's the only material I work with that I feel is suitable for quilting.
8. I'd like to be able to do more creative stuff like drawing as well as being able to quilt more often.
9.I'd like some of you to help recall McCain, Levin, Graham, and all the other senators who voted on the National Defense Authorization Act as well as Scott Walker and Lindsay Boerma, as well as the American Congress by signing as many petitions and protesting as much as you can.
10. I'd like more wishes of other people such as Gen and Vinci to come true as well. Especially Vinci, who's wish list has mostly unselfish requests and holiday wishes for her family and friends.
While I may not be able to help you guys as much as I want to, maybe someone else can, please leave a comment below with a link to your Christmas wishlist.

FA+

A good first step to doing a comic, whether it's a webcomic or for print, is giving yourself a size limit (no more than 10 pages at this point), working out a story that'll fit in that space, and working on scripts/stories that have a beginning, middle and end to start out. It will help you get a sense for what you can do with the medium and how quickly things actually move (when we started I.C.Q., we were worried we'd have all characters' sexualities confirmed on-screen before our FA ad ran out after a month, and you've seen how that went...) from page to page. It's also a chance to test a story without making a huge committment.
The absolutely best, tightest storyline in my old webcomic was done in this way.
If you do that a few times, you'll get a feel for what stories you enjoy telling, and thus for what kind of stories you would be able to stick with in the long run.
Also, don't be an idiot like me. Build up a goddamned buffer and try not to let sloth eat into it. (Life, fine. That's what's buffers are for. Sloth? Sloth is your ENEMY!)
If you need more advice on making comics and storytelling in general, check for Scott McCloud's work in your local library. That man is made of win and awesome.
