The latest in made up medical conditions.
Restless leg syndrome is in reality your body's reaction to sitting still for too long. You see the large veins in your legs rely on the mechanical movement of your leg muscles in order to pump blood. You will instinctively begin shaking your leg when your body senses blood pooling or poor circulation.
If you were to actually try to treat this behaviour via drugs you will reduce total blood flow in the legs and this will result in blood pooling. This can lead to heart attacks as not enough blood will be able to flow through your body.
Everything this video says about the condition is a lie. I've also noticed that people are buying this garbage.

FA+

They explain many of the tricks in modern marketing.
I'm well past the "Sheeple" stage I already know that they're downright retarded.
But no matter how far along I get I'll always in some aspect be a sheep, there's just too much misinformation in the world.
After eating a meal, do you occasionally still feel hungry?
When you sneeze, do you find it impossible to keep your eyes open?
You might have CES, Chronic Everyone Syndrome, a condition that can plague every man, woman, and child in America.
New medical breakthroughs have brought treatment for CES by Pfizer, with the new prescription drug Tanzecol. Side effects may include...
On a serious note, the drug industry infuriates me, but even worse is how the government continues to give better treatment to their industry than the actual people. And these prescription drug ads should be illegal, they're making people paranoid self-diagnosers, so that instead of going to a doctor when you really feel sick, you think you have a billion and one ailments that need to be medicated, and of course there's money to be made, so who's going to tell you otherwise? Feh.
I'm not kidding.
then I noticed its author... UCTV... University of California Television
it looks real too, even has a real grant from a real pharmaceutical company
so, it's dead serious... and completely wrong XD
I think the video was made by professors who think that students shaking their legs during lectures are a distraction XD
worst part is, if they actually make a serious effort to "treat" the "condition", they'll end up killing students, getting sued, and starting a national controversy
If I was a more reputable (and rich) scientist I would make a counter add much like the old anti-pot ones. "If you take this, you will kill people."
Also, people making up 'syndromes' and 'conditions' for everyday things is nothing new... take ADHD. How many people do you know who weren't hyper as children? ... and ritalin tasted nasty.
I'm going to tell you something that blows all of that out of the water. My mother also has Restless Leg Syndrome, in which her legs *involuntary* twitch. This isn't your bored gotta move legs type of fake RLS folks are saying above. This is when she sits or lays down and both legs twitch. With her arthritis, the RLS keeps her up at night and she *must* be medicated in order to get any sleep. The second problem is... she has high blood pressure, as verified by hospital medical rehab nurses.
Let us recap. High blood pressure, so that there's little or no chance of blood actually pooling. RLS twitching her legs. And arthritis making movement rather painful. All verified by medical insitutions.
RLS is just a natural effect. Yeah, right. Whole muscle contractions not under any conscous control is a natural effect, especially when arteries and veins contract and expand to assist in blood flow. These professors are taking lessons from Tom Cruise (who himself really needs medication).
Mif, you in the medical pratice? Or just really knoloageable? If that is a word...
I just consider this all marketing, it's how our economy works, even if it's stupid an underhanded. If someone is sad enough to believe the drivel and hurts themselves, then it's their problem.. I can't exactly go to the doctor too much(cost of health insurance, beh) but when I do I always have long, informed talks with my doctor, I ask for clarification, hell sometimes he even gives me pamplets or tells me websites.. it's like any other service in america.. you need to be, if not friends, at least on equal footing with the people who 'serve' you.
Bleh, got side tracked, anyway.. down with idiocy. o.o *raises a small flag stating "vote for Murr Porn 2008*
Your body's reaction to being moderately endowed for too long. *swell*
They're called drummers.
RLS is NOT when your sitting there bouncing a knee, spinning an ankle or just generally bouncing leg or foot movement. This definition is NOT RLS.
RLS is hard if not impossible to explain unless youve actually experienced it. The video describes it pretty good as a horrible sensation of nagging that makes you want to move your legs (your legs dont actually move or bounce subconciously). You can lay there and fight it all night without moving your legs once, but for only so long before you simply must stand up and walk around. A way ive found to stop my RLS is to stay laying down and just lift both legs up and stretch and flex every muscle in them as hard as i can untill they feel sore. That helps most of the time.
Its not a twitch, a bounce or just repetitive small uncontrolled motions of the legs. It is a terrible sensation (not painfull) but just this need that almost burns. Insisting you get up from your sleep or relaxation and work the muscles.
You are WRONG. How do i know? I have RLS. its terrible. Something i wouldnt wish on anyone.
Thus far it still sounds like your body is telling that staying sedentary is bad for you.
This condition like most others can be treated with good diet and exercise. I used to have this problem when i was younger.
If your body says you should move, it's probably a sign that you should move. There is a lot wrong with the way our society is set up and we're led to believe there are no adverse health effects for either the foods we eat or our behaviours.
