Well, again it would depend on the art and story
4. Would you prefer an R-rated comic, or PG-13? More adult content as far as situations? Porn is not an option here, mind...
As long as it's intresting
5. What price range would you pay for a comic with the above aspects taken into account?
Depending on pages, art, story, and how frequent it comes out 3-7 dollars a comic I suppose.
6. Any other questions or comments?
Nope
1A. If you do, do you do so regularly, or just at art shows and conventions?

1C. What titles do you purchase?
2. Would you purchase a comic book or furry persuasion if it was a bimonthly installment? - Maybe
3. Would you prefer a higher price on a comic book if it was in full color? Or would you prefer a black and white interior and a lower price? - I prefer full color
4. Would you prefer an R-rated comic, or PG-13? More adult content as far as situations? Porn is not an option here, mind... - R is more of what I read these days
5. What price range would you pay for a comic with the above aspects taken into account? - 20-35$ per issue
6. Any other questions or comments? - I'd have to know what the story concept was before buying this
1a.) semi-regular, in comic shops or cons...
1b. ) No subscription, those things are a bitch to keep up with...
1c.) I get "Elephant Men" by Image...I have just about every issue, and get the occasional Shanda book as well...and I miss "Hopsters Tracks", that comic ROCKED!
2.) Oh by Maker yes. Make it well drawn and written and you have me for life.
3.) I've gotten both. But sometimes you can do more with b/w IF you know what you're doing with it.
4.) R??? Puh leeze... Give me X bud, Im too perverted :P
But I do like the mild stuff too (as mentioned before with Elephant Men and etc.)
5.) Price range? It depends...regular issue...5 to 10...if its a special edition or something perhaps more.
6.) What did you have in mind for a comic bud :P
Yep!
1A. If you do, do you do so regularly, or just at art shows and conventions?
Neither; I'm really selective and so far have only bought online.
1B. If you do purchase them regularly, do you have a subscription?
N/A
1C. What titles do you purchase?
Only one-shot comics so far.
2. Would you purchase a comic book or furry persuasion if it was a bimonthly installment?
Depends mainly on the content, but if it was something I liked, yes.
3. Would you prefer a higher price on a comic book if it was in full color? Or would you prefer a black and white interior and a lower price?
Higher price and full color, definitely.
4. Would you prefer an R-rated comic, or PG-13? More adult content as far as situations? Porn is not an option here, mind...
R-rated, just so any storytelling wouldn't be restrained (I wouldn't want it to push the envelope just for the sake of it, though).
5. What price range would you pay for a comic with the above aspects taken into account?
Depends mainly on the size and number of pages, but I'd say something like $0.50 for every full-color page at the most (I have one 50-page color comic at 20 bucks, for example, which is close).
6. Any other questions or comments?
:D Where are my points?
2. I guess yes, that periodicity would ensure (under local costs) that it won't interfere with my other hobbies.
3. Depends, it's not a matter of price, some stories need the color, other have a better "feeling" when they are in black and white (Sin City as an example).
4. Hard question, I'd prefer something PG-13 leaning to R in some situations (maybe violence -if aplicable- or emotional or ethical dilemmas).
5. I'd pay gladly the average price in here for a comic that goes from 24 pages to 48, $15 (5 USD$) to $20 (6.66 USD$).
6. Nay for now.
2. yes for sure
3. full colour if the colouring is good but i've found that a bad colouring job can detract from the comic
4. r-rated
5. nothing over $10 unless its a graphic novel (65+ pages)
6. sounds pretty cool
7. i am a web desiger i would be willing to possibly do a site for the comic, email me for details
7a. i'm reliable for sure
2. It is not the frequency that affects my decision. Sadly, I don't read the words I have already purchased.
3. It would most certainly depend on how big a difference the color makes in both price & quality.
4. The story shouldn't be crippled to make the content fit a rating. A comic book, at least to me, is selling a periodical story, and using pictures to take out all the details that you would otherwise have to read. Think of how short Jordan's "Wheel of Time" would be if he had pictures to replace his descriptions... So whatever it takes to make the story good.
5. You have to be in the market to put a price on something in it :)
6. My opinion may not be worth much past the 'no,' but I find that you can't get a good survey if every single answer contains some form of yes.
2. sure, if it's good. and if I can buy it online easily.
3. I don't mind either, as long as the art is good. there's bad coloring and bad B&W work... maybe B&W just to keep the price down.
4. it seems like all furry comics are either smut, or teenager fantasy-magic stuff (or both). I'd rather see something "mature" but I don't mean erotica. rating doesn't matter.
5. I have no idea. how many pages?
6. what size paper? like magazine-sized pages?
7. if it's about something I like
7A. maybe
Yup!
1A. If you do, do you do so regularly, or just at art shows and conventions?
Whenever I can get them/afford them...
1B. If you do purchase them regularly, do you have a subscription?
Unfortunately, I don't know of any that has one.
1C. What titles do you purchase?
whatever looks good!
2. Would you purchase a comic book or furry persuasion if it was a bimonthly installment?
If I had the money...
3. Would you prefer a higher price on a comic book if it was in full color? Or would you prefer a black and white interior and a lower price?
Cheaper works for me....
4. Would you prefer an R-rated comic, or PG-13? More adult content as far as situations? Porn is not an option here, mind...
any rating works for me, as long as the storyline is good!
5. What price range would you pay for a comic with the above aspects taken into account?
dunno....
6. Any other questions or comments?
Can't think of any off hand....
7. Would you be interested in contributing, and...
Depends.... Do 3D stuffs count?
7A. Would you actually be reliable in doing so?
I'd have to fit it into my schedule, but sure, if 3D works are accepted...
Occasionally
1A. If you do, do you do so regularly, or just at art shows and conventions?
Mainly at shows/conventions, they're hard to find locally
1B. If you do purchase them regularly, do you have a subscription?
Nope
1C. What titles do you purchase?
Genus, Genus Male, Book of the Beast, various fap mags
2. Would you purchase a comic book or furry persuasion if it was a bimonthly installment?
If it had good fap material, certainly
3. Would you prefer a higher price on a comic book if it was in full color? Or would you prefer a black and white interior and a lower price?
I'll pay more for color, color's nice. =)
4. Would you prefer an R-rated comic, or PG-13? More adult content as far as situations? Porn is not an option here, mind...
Ah, no porn? Not interested, sorry.
5. What price range would you pay for a comic with the above aspects taken into account?
With porn? I dunno, at least $0.25 per page if it were color. No porn? Not very interested unless the story is -FUCKING AMAZING- and I doubt the chances that something that good would come from furry fandom. But assuming it's better than The Matrix, I'd prolly pay like $5 per issue.
6. Any other questions or comments?
Why no porn?
7. Would you be interested in contributing, and...
I'm not much of a contributor, the only thing I can do is write.
7A. Would you actually be reliable in doing so?
I guess that would all depend, but if I were committed to the project yeah.
1A. If you do, do you do so regularly, or just at art shows and conventions?

7A. Would you actually be reliable in doing so?
1 yes at cons but looking for a good subscritption but watch sabrina online and love the funny dirty situations
2 yes i would but considering the content
3 a mainly black and white would be nice with ocassional important colors
4 a dirty mag in nice but i like to chuckle too
5 not sure $5 or so ??
6 what kind of story you thinking of producing?
7 nah im just an idea man nothing more unless you requir ideas??
2. The timeframe of months does not daunt me. It could be produced weekly quarterly, or even yearly.
3. That all depends. There is nothing wrong with black and white, as long as the comic is designed for it. And color can usually be added in without much loss. And added value later for the publisher.
4.It's about the content, not the rating. A good comic is worth all the bloodied bunnies, as well as every one intact.
5. Again, that depends on the content. Thinking of a comic in terms of dollars is not weighing its worth. How big are these comics you are planning? How would you rate your abilitiy to produce a visually interesting comic with a dynamic plot and characters? I have enjoyed TPB's at $20 a pop (Gold Digger, The Sandman, Battle Angel Alita) as well as individual comics from $2-5.
6. I don't know if I understand this journal. Anyone will buy anything for any amount, given they like it enough. Feed us! What is this you are planning? I know you are trying to qualify us here, but I think I would be able to give a much more concrete estimate if I had an idea what I was planning to purchase. And I'm pretty certain, given a small sample of the plot and characters, you would have few problems getting suggestions. ;)
What do you mean by contributing, exactly? What is it you need?
But mostly
I want to draw possums and badgers and get paid for it.
Also, having a "fan vote" story in there would also be pretty cool.
1A. If you do, do you do so regularly, or just at art shows and conventions?
1B. If you do purchase them regularly, do you have a subscription?
1C. What titles do you purchase?
No, unfortunately.
2. Would you purchase a comic book or furry persuasion if it was a bimonthly installment?
If I had the money and it was of good quality (more so the story), than yes.
3. Would you prefer a higher price on a comic book if it was in full color? Or would you prefer a black and white interior and a lower price?
Assuming both the color and B&W are in their highest quality, color.
4. Would you prefer an R-rated comic, or PG-13? More adult content as far as situations? Porn is not an option here, mind...
More than likely R-rated. If I'm going to spend my money on something, I would like it to have a bit more mature content... that and it's hard to pass off a decent story in a PG-13 setting.
5. What price range would you pay for a comic with the above aspects taken into account?
$18? That sound good? Not sure what the going rate is for even a Marvel comic.
6. Any other questions or comments?
Not at the moment.
I'm not currently purchasing a lot of comics, but I still get Usagi and Mouse Guard and sometimes Genus. When I worked at a comic book store, I purchased more, obviously.
I also purchase the JACK comics off the web.
1A. If you do, do you do so regularly, or just at art shows and conventions?
Regularly, but conventions were a good chance to get signed things, or missed issues or whathave you. Also, new things that weren't very prominent in Diamond.
1B. If you do purchase them regularly, do you have a subscription?
Subscription, but through a comic book store rather than mail order.
1C. What titles do you purchase?
Not entirely a current list, but Cerebus, Usagi Yojimbo and Mouse Guard, and sometimes Genus.
I also recently bought Love Can Be Different.
2. Would you purchase a comic book or furry persuasion if it was a bimonthly installment?
Sure.
The monthly, bimonthly, quarterly thing-- no option there is a turn off in and of itself...
HOWEVER, a sporadic schedual is. If you say bimonthly and two come out right in a row and then I don't see issue three for six months, I am an unhappy badger and probably stop getting the book.
3. Would you prefer a higher price on a comic book if it was in full color? Or would you prefer a black and white interior and a lower price?
Depends on how much higher...
$3-4 is strandard now, and I think the most I would pay for a 22 page comic is about $6. And the colouring has to be _good_. I've gotten comics where they've raised the price by a dollar and slapped on some crap colouring and I dropped those pretty quickly.
4. Would you prefer an R-rated comic, or PG-13? More adult content as far as situations? Porn is not an option here, mind...
I guess R. The majority of the comis I read are published by Vertigo... sex, violence and deep thoughts are selling points for me.
5. What price range would you pay for a comic with the above aspects taken into account?
$3-4 for black and white, $4-6 for colour...
Slightly more, like $6 for black and white or maybe as much as $10 for colour if it's square bound rather than staple and more in the 40-50 page range.
Mmm.... small press stuff tends to be slightly on the high end and I think people who read small press comics are used to that, so oddly enough even though the market isn't as big, a slightly higher price than a Marvel/DC comic is okay.
6. Any other questions or comments?
What, are you making a comic or something?
7. Would you be interested in contributing, and...
7A. Would you actually be reliable in doing so?
Yes~!
And maybe.
I'm _trying really hard_ to be more consistant and more involved in art lately.
If it were something like 8 pages every two-four months, definately. If it were 22 pages a month, not so much.
Actually, I went back and read the other comments after posting my own.
GOOD GODDAMN, people seem willing to pay a lot of money for a comic book here.
I worked at a comic book store for seven years and got yelled at left and right by customers whenenever Marvel jacked their goddamn prices up by 25 cents or so. In my experience, it has to be something _good_ (famous writier, issue one, whatever) or people don't want to pay over $3-4.
I guess the exception being some hyper collectors who buy ever varient cover, but the popularity of things like that comes and goes.
I know people will pay more for _pornography_ and I know small press fans are used to slightly higher prices (we've been paying $3 for black and white back when full colour main stream stuff was more like $2), but eeh, I dunno.
Digest or TPB style stuff is another story, generally starting at $10 and up to $25 or so, unless it's hardbound.
The problem that I've had with group projects lately is that a bunch of people commit, and then I say, "Okay! Here's mine!" and only half the group responds that they've actually done any work. I may just make this a one shot deal with a few self contained stories in it, ideally totaling around 36 pages and selling for $10. I suppose I'd gauge by that if there was enough interest to attempt to make this a regular thing. This is the style I was going for myself for this little project as far as characters. http://www.furaffinity.net/view/1049881/
I would not generally trust most artsy type people to do anything on time. ^^;
$10 isn't bad at all, I would certainly buy that. I guess I was thinking more for a monthly/bimonthly regularly published type comic, but something that's basically self published, I think it's reasonable to charge a bit more for.
I really like the characters, btw.
The price I'd pay for a comics... Depends on the comics. Here, prices are from about 8 € to 25 €, mostly 10-15 €. Black and white or colour? I prefer colour, but again, it depends: there are artists who prefer to draw in BW.
I'm currently drawing a comics featuring anthro reptiles, but it ain't on Internet, it's a IRL project. Maybe later...
hm, you probably know that short six-issue series which german title is "Die Hüter Der Unsterblichkeit"? a fine comic im my opinion.
Alas the title in German, Idunno what it is, I don't speak German. Can you find an image from the cover somewhere?
http://amazon.de/s/ref=nb_ss_w?__mk......y=0&Go=Go
here you can see all three (?) covers. apparently I remembered wrong and they published it in three parts here.
hm, maybe I have to learn to read french some day... 9.9
- Yes
1A. If you do, do you do so regularly, or just at art shows and conventions?
- Any time I see new ones at RabbitValley, furplanet or sofawolf press [or when they are announced on the sites of comics I follow.]
1B. If you do purchase them regularly, do you have a subscription?
- None of those I buy have subscriptions [though I have subscribed to a webcomic to see it in colour online.]
1C. What titles do you purchase?
- I.S.O
- Furpiled
- Jack
- Spoo
- Genus male
- Buffalow Wings
- Codename: Hunter
- Ringtail Cafe
- Inherit the earth
- Digger
- Circles
- Rocketship Rodents
- Heat
- Furnation
- Cobalt
2. Would you purchase a comic book or furry persuasion if it was a bimonthly installment?
- Yes
3. Would you prefer a higher price on a comic book if it was in full color? Or would you prefer a black and white interior and a lower price?
- That would depend on the quality and style, some comics look better in black and white than in colour, but i'd definitely be willing to pay for the increase printing cost of a colour comic if it looked good enough when in colour.
4. Would you prefer an R-rated comic, or PG-13? More adult content as far as situations? Porn is not an option here, mind...
- That's a tough one, the most important thing is the story. As long as the story is immersive then I don't mind which. Bare in mind that certain topical content forces a comic to be labled higher than it actually presents itself. For instance, Circles and ASB are both rated adult yet only ASB contains graphic content [sexual organs and sexual intercourse,] Circles is rated for adults only for the soul fact that it deals with homosexuality.
5. What price range would you pay for a comic with the above aspects taken into account?
- That would again depend on its quality, the detail of the art and the materials used for printing. It would also depend on whether or not it was in a comic form, graphic novel form [A4,] Manga form [A5] or hardback form. As well as the number of pages contained in each issue. I'm afraid I couldn't put a price on this as I believe that the comic industry greatly undervalues itself $5 for 32 pages of art is ridiculously low for even a black and white comic with not backgrounds and printed on printer paper. I could tell you what I've paid for each of the types of comics I've listed here but that's it.
6. Any other questions or comments?
- Contributing to what?
7. Would you be interested in contributing, and...
- That would depend on #6 and if you'd have any use for a digital colourist who can't do shading [though if the linart includes shading then I can.]
7A. Would you actually be reliable in doing so?
- If I was a part of an actual project then I would definitely be reliable, I'm only behind on gift pieces because they are gifts and no-one is relying on me to do them.
Well, no. <.< The only comic I've ever bought was Coco GunBun, and that's not anthro.
2. Would you purchase a comic book or furry persuasion if it was a bimonthly installment?
If it was a good enough comic.
3. Would you prefer a higher price on a comic book if it was in full color? Or would you prefer a black and white interior and a lower price?
So long as the linework is clear enough, I don't care if it's in color or not.
4. Would you prefer an R-rated comic, or PG-13? More adult content as far as situations? Porn is not an option here, mind...
I don't care, so long as the story is good and boobs aren't thrown in just to have boobs.
5. What price range would you pay for a comic with the above aspects taken into account?
Probably less than 10 dollars. I think that's a little low, though, but I'm not exactly a comics collector.
6. Any other questions or comments?
7. Would you be interested in contributing, and...
Contributing to a comic? I'd love to! Of course, I've got my own ideas at the moment, and none of them are furry.
7A. Would you actually be reliable in doing so?
I sure hope I would be. -.-
2. No
3. Yes
4. Fuck porn, i like PG
5. $10-15
6. All of the above
7. Maybe
2. No
3. Quality is what is most important to me. I actually prefer B&W comics with full color "spectaculars" thrown in every once in a while.
4. Whatever makes the plot work is better. R opens up more options, but PG-13 probably has a wider audience.
5. Probably nothing, unless it was truly exceptional. I'm too cheap for my own good sometimes.
6. Good luck!
7. I can contribute grammar and spelling editing, but that is about it.
7A. Yes
yes. but not necessarily because it's 'furry'.
1A. If you do, do you do so regularly, or just at art shows and conventions?
we have only two large conventions in germany where comics are offered. so I take resort to importing comic shops for everything that's offered by Diamond Distribution. I don't have the time to look up small press stuff, but would like to do so when money allows it.
1B. If you do purchase them regularly, do you have a subscription?
only two titles are purchased regularly, for the rest, mostly german or franco-belgian comics, I have to wait until the publisher gets his ass lifted.
1C. What titles do you purchase?
Usagi Yojimbo and Furrlough are regular. the rest, see 1B. if you want to hear titles, I can offer only german titles for them. :)
2. Would you purchase a comic book or furry persuasion if it was a bimonthly installment?
of course. monthly, bimonthly, quartely, as long as the contents catch my interest I'll be game.
3. Would you prefer a higher price on a comic book if it was in full color? Or would you prefer a black and white interior and a lower price?
depends on the actual price, though. I don't have the funds to spend too much on comics in a row. something around 5 euros would be fine, I guess. if there's colour included, all the better.
4. Would you prefer an R-rated comic, or PG-13? More adult content as far as situations? Porn is not an option here, mind...
as long as the adult situations make sense, go for them. daily news hold much more violence. but R-rated would be fine, too.
5. What price range would you pay for a comic with the above aspects taken into account?
most small-press magazines seem to range from $2.75 to 5.95 or something, maybe more. middle europe's comic books are more costly (see Clapantgrifon's post), but they are legal-letter sized, soft cover bound high-gloss full colour comics with around 30-36 pages. and printing here ain't cheap... but those formats are part of our comic culture, so there.
6. Any other questions or comments?
only that I hope your project sells well when it's finally launched.
7. Would you be interested in contributing, and...
certainly yes. but...
7A. Would you actually be reliable in doing so?
I fear no. drawing comics for me is like pulling teeth. my last attempt got stuck on page 3... for over a year now. no, I am not reliable to contribute to anything like that.
