intous 4 if you can afford it. I've tried both and intuos 4 blows the bamboo out of the water.

I would say it would depend more on how much drawing you plan to do. If you'll be at it for at least 8 hours at a time, several days a week (if not daily), go for the Intuos4, which is designed for professional use. But, if you're only going to be on it for a few hours at a time and you don't find yourself drawing all that often, the Bamboo would probably suffice.

I'd vote for bamboo because it's cheaper and does the job fine (what I use, an older version actually) but I haven't tried anything beyond this kind of tablet. But I can def tell you it does what it's meant to and I've never had a problem with it.

but yeah, if you're ok with money? go for the other. I'm sure many more people will say the 4 would be a better choice if you have bigger workloads and such.

If you can afford to, go for the Intous. Besides the higher sensitivity, the Intuos allows you to customize what the pen buttons and express buttons (on the tablet itself) do on a per-program basis. This can greatly increase productivity and all that kind of good stuff.
If you cannot afford it, the Bamboo is still a quality tablet. If you learn your keyboard shortcuts, you can work quickly with either.

You also do not get the touch-dial or LED display with the smallest size. I use the touch wheel to change my brush size quickly, so I'd recommend it.

I see what you mean about the display, but the touch wheel seems to be present, unless I'm thinking of the wrong thing. It's the circular part between the keys, right?

My mistake. The small one does have the touch screen. The Medium has twice the buttons, wish is still a perk—based on your workflow it can be a huge time saver!

I'd vote intuous, because I depend so heavily on the customizability of it.

The zoom strip not so much, but having undo mapped to my tablet is a necessity. As I use it so much.

I've never used the Bamboo (though I think it's way better than their old budget line, the Graphire, which I did not like), but I can at least say that I've never, ever regretted having an Intuos <3

Definitely Intuos. My Bamboo only lasted roughly two years. And I've been recommended getting a refurbished model which is much less expensive. I'll try and dig up the links.
