On the birth of a Christmas tradition

’Twas the Night before Christmas, and Santa’s Workshop at the North Pole was bristling with activity.
Santa was red with anger, his famous jovial behavior gone. Nothing had gone right. An elf had misplaced the naughty list. Another had accidentally inserted a defect into a line of much-sought toys. The reindeer were ill, having eaten out without authorization.
And in the middle of all that, a cheery, teeny angel came up to Santa. “Santa, look what I got you! A nice, big Christmas tree! Where do you want me to put it?”
Having long lost any trace of patience left, Santa just glared angrily at the angel.
A mere few seconds later, the tradition of sticking a figurine of a little angel atop a Christmas tree was born.
