Engagement ring?

So... Kenta and I have been talking about rings, I showed him one a while back that was just wow. I told him I dont want him spending a bunch of money on one, but at the same time he insists he wants me to have a nice one.
Well, last night I was in my room on my small laptop while Kenta was on his pc in the livingroom. We cant talk back and forth like normal people because at that time of the morning we will wake the neighbor from hell. So we skype our conversation. I was trying to tell him he didnt need to spend $500 on a ring and decided to look up other similar rings that are $200 to $300 less. (I Still think that is too much)
So here is how the conversation went...

So at this point without even thinking I told him from the other room that he was a smartass. His reply...

I guess I woke the neighbor after all..... It was Kentas fault tho!
[5:02:24 AM] Kenta: he's walking around upstairs so be careful with noise
[5:02:56 AM] Raikeira Firebourn: ok
And here is is a year later and he updates his ring idea with this:
