Why is Skyrim so addicting?

For Christmas, I got Skyrim... since, around 9 hours of my life had been spent playing that game.
I was kinda "iffy" on buying the game, since I kind of disliked the whole "dunces and dragons" stuff, but I gave it a try and the rest is history.
But the game pissed me off today when I found out that the game glitched on me and I am unable to join the Campanions and be a werewolf. The Campanions is one reason why I bought the game. So I will probably be starting over. But that's okay since most of those hours were spent trying to find out why they would not let me in the Campanion "Circle"
So I guess the rest of the night will be spent playing it over again... unless someone can give me another reason why it's not working.
On Another Note, I also got Uncharted 3 for christmas and also got a new phone, a Galaxy S II (at&t version). It's an awesome phone, but I'm going thourgh major youtube withdrawls since I have only 2 gigs of data. Hopefully I can upgrade to 4 gigs, but that's still not enough to watch y.t. I'm so used to using up to 10 gigs of data, now I have to use less than 2 cold turkey... I have no life! What am I suppose to do with the extra time? Skyrim I guess.

I joined the companions as soon as I hit whiterun... i got it for christmas... all the tiume i havent been out with fam or seeing my girlfriend Ive been playing.... steam says ive played over 9 hours too

I started a new game last night and did everything i did in ten hours in three. And they ddint let me join because I fast traveled back to whiterun and it did not trigger the events. But its all straightened out now
