'Tis my birthday!
I'm now officially 19 years old! :D Which is really bizarre, considering I still feel like I'm 15 or something. Yet I'm now a college student and only one year away from not being a teenager anymore. Life goes by really fast~
Having a birthday on New Year's Eve seems like a really good excuse to get alcohol involved. x3 But my mom apparently thinks that if I try more than a sip, I'll be addicted to alcohol for life. She claims she doesn't want to supply alcohol because "you're underage, it's illegal!" ...Uh, no. It's not illegal if I drink at home, supervised by my parent. My mom is usually not very strict, but it annoys me that she actually complies with the U.S.'s stupid drinking age limit. -__- I mean for fuck's sake, I'm old enough to enlist in the army and get my limbs blown off for my country, yet I'm not allowed to drink alcoholic beverages. Bullshit much?
...Now I get to sit back and watch tons of birthday messages pile in from people who only know it's my birthday because of Facebook. xD

I think it's perfectly fine to drink at home, supervised by a parent -- and even if you're not at home, I see no problem with consuming alcohol as long as you drink in moderation and don't drive (or do something equally stupid). Also, my friend brought up a good point: two years from now, I'm going to turn 21 on New Year's Eve, the biggest party day of the year. That means people will be shoving all kinds of drinks in my face. xD If I don't build up some kind of alcohol tolerance between now and then, I'm gonna end up in the hospital for sure.
Saying it's not a crime if you don't get caught would be like saying it's not a crime to break into someone's car if you don't get caught. xD I agree, however, that the rules are a bit strict. However, like I said, I personally can't understand why anyone NEEDS to drink. It's only detrimental to your health. :P If someone was shoving drinks in my face, I'd tell them to kindly fuck off. :B
Just as long as you don't go crazy with it, there's no harm.
