Visual Novel : Music and Voice Acting
The Base Sprites are complete, need to work on emotions and clothes. Programming and writing will be hand in hand. Now, several people asked about whether they could voice act for me. Now I'm curious if people want a game that has music and voice actors.
My concerns really would be that it narrows down the character to a specific entity and takes away any from components that would otherwise be created in the mind of the player. Anyhow, just wanted to poll all of you.
Thanks in advance!
[Edit] This is for my visual novel. More info at http://lykanproject.tumblr.com .

So I can't answer the poll! I have no idea!
Thanks!
I'm thinking it would mostly be people reading dialogue for the characters in the story. Ranging from casual to maybe some of the more naughty stuff. It's all still in the works, will probably be something I decide on when I'm finally at the stage of writing it.
I hear what everyone is saying, and I think that this is going to be a bigger and bigger project in the end but you got to think of how much fun it will be. I, for one, do not know of anyone personally who's doing anything remotely like this.
In any case, I'm looking forward to how well you do! The last time I've heard someone else propose to make a visual novel, I had so many reasons to question his ability to do anything. That, and his proposed premise came off a lot like a Recycled IN ANOTHER COUNTRY visual novel that I'm a fan of. Yours already looks a lot more polished and workable even in its planning and setup stage. Good luck with it!
Thanks for the boost in confidence! I hope I don't disappoint.
Also, I would not recommend leaving a piece up to someone to read and record it remotely, but that's just me as a director talking. It's not that you can't achieve what you want this way, it's that it could take much longer from getting recordings and sending back notes until it's right. VOIP sessions where you can listen and help rehearse the material would be a fantastic boon, but it's hard to do VOIP and record at the same time, I think.
I think I have an abundance of local furs who would love to help me in this endeavor, so I'd have them present for any directorial things if needed.
I worked on a project with a voice actress who had absolutely never acted and really had no interest in acting, but volunteered anyway, and it took five hours to get this out of her:

And it's not like that was one shot either. We recorded it one line at a time, out of order, and I had to reassemble it in post-production later. I have private, non-listed links of what it was like before, when another person who volunteered for the voice just went and read through the script. They are two, entirely different projects, even though it's the same shots, just different sound.
My accent might get in the way too D:
If you think that I could contribute anything, please just let me know.
But the main thing i think of is, maybe just pick and choose the scenes that need voices. like the intimate ones, or the ones that establish something important. then do Shinkikami's idea of giving everyone else a generic grunt. and if you are looking for specefic voices, go to the voice acting alliance website, and put up a tryout. voice actors like me will apply for just about anything for the experience. good luck regardless

This is all, of course, my opinion and I don't know all of what goes into this. Maybe you could put an option to turn voices on or off? It's looking good so far! Can't wait. X3
