From what I know (which isn't a lot, admittedly) I'd say go for as many scholarships as you can. There's a whole bunch of scholarship search sites out there, and definitely try to apply to as many as you can. I know there's also grant search sites out there. No matter what scholarship or grant you apply for, definitely find out if it'll apply to your school (I'm sure the administration for your school should be able to help you figure out if they accept it or not) and if there are any requirements on what you have to be taking.

Loans are totally crap these days, especially considering the current economy (poo), so if you do ABSOLUTELY need to get one, I'd recommend finding someone who has dealt with them before or someone who speaks the language of fine-print to help you, because damn do those know how to bite you in the ass.

Hello there I am sorry to hear about your issues... I am going through the SAME thing. School pretty much said screw you loans loans loans debt lol. There really isn't too much you can do other than Scholarships and loans. I would go to your local library (yes I just LOVE saying that makes me feel so old school) lol and ask for any and all advice they can give on scholarship websites and such do plenty of research and get loans. I know it will be a pain to do but if you really want this then isn't it worth it to better yourself? I am painfully going to be paying over 80k for my school after everything is said and done.. But it is what I want. I would also look at companies that you may work for in the future and see if they pay back some of your schooling. There is plenty of ways out there you just have to look. I happened to find ya from Hizzies page btw just so you know lol. You are definitely not alone on this hon and it does suck but if it is your passion and what you TRULY want in life. Then go for it. That is the best advice I can give. Do it for yourself and don't let it slide away when it is so close. Be selfish!! Hehe Also I was curious about a little digital sketch and do you do couples sketches?

The school didn't accept the Pell Grant? Ouch. My grant was the only thing that kept me in college. I'm really surprised a college woulnd't accept that. I assume you've already checked with family for loans and that's not an option.

Without knowing the specific field of study you are in and what your grades are, it's hard to give advice, but I used to be an educational services officer in the military. I always told people to look at the national societies within the field of study they were going into. Some of them do have scholarships and hardship moneys. If you are affiliated with any religious organizations, check with them (never hurts to ask). Check your alumni association from your high school.

I was on a ROTC scholarship for three years of college, but I played in the band and worked the computer labs to get extra money. It wasn't a lot, but every bit helped and it still took me 5 years to pay off my loans from college (ROTC only pays tuition). I'd see what the college has and check with any and all of their professional societies.

The library and student services at the college should have information for other money sources. You might try to check back with your guidance counselor from high school to see if they have any suggestions.

I am going to an art institute. I am unsure it was the pell grant, but it was one of them they denied.

The institute I am going to is nhia (new hampshire institute of art)
and as for hs, i got my ged
and my gpa was about 3.4 I think. Probably better if I had finished hs XD


All my ged scores were in the high five hundreds or six hundred

I am applying my ass off anywhere to scholarships so i can house next semester
