Car questions!

.:۞:. Does anyone know anything about cars or even dabbled in some mechanics?
My truck has recently been emitting this constant squeaking/chirping sound when I start the car, both in idle and driving, also I've noticed that it 'jolts' a little when I go from braking at a stop sign to slowly driving forward. Could they be related, I wonder?
I had a good friend come check it out (hes pretty knowledgeable in car mechanics). He noticed that the sound has been coming from behind the engine near the center. He suggested that it might be the transmission and we may need it flushed.
Has anyone else encountered this problem and got it fixed? I'd love to hear some additional advice or even some anecdotes just to reassure me. Im mildly freaking out since my mate and I have no money to repair anything expensive with the car.
Here are my car's specs (from what I can remember):
-Ford Ranger XLT super cab. year 2003
-v6 engine
-3.0L
-~86,000 mileage on it

I don't know much about cars but sounds like it may be the transmission too.

oh, good. At least Im seeing a lot of opinions of it being the transmission. Hopefully it wont be a bigger problem.

Prob transmission related... check the fluid level on it bc my ranger had a habbit of the seals would leak and that was the problem with mine

That's the first thing my friend did. He said that the level was fine. If anything, the color was just a little off. So Im hoping this flush will solve the problem(s) and not it being any seal leaks.

I've never heard of a transmission squeaking, I would call that a belt somewhere. But the jolting is probably going to be your transmission.

I was wishing it were a belt. they're cheaper to fix but nooo my car gotta be difficult because thats what cars like to do. =\

Don't I know it, I had a car that cracked its radiator and blew a head gasket at the same time...
