So, what model Amiga did you have/ have currently/ want? =D
14 years ago
The obvious question that hasn't been asked yet!
Was there a particular model that you had, or that you loved?
When I was a kid, my mum worked for a company that distributed computers and software. We only got our A500+ because the company overstocked and virtually gave them away to staff members. This was in 1991, and in 1997 my parents got a Windows '95 Packard Bell PC, Which was a lump of shit, imho. Hasten to say, my dad took the A500+ down the tip. =( (R.I.P Buddy!)
Either way, I've managed to replace it. I got an identical A500+ in fantastic condition from a seller on ebay, & have even upgraded him with an extra 1MB. <3
Well worth it! Me an' the mister were playing troddlers 2 player the other day. :3

FA+

The 4000 was also pretty sexy :p so much expansion.
Also have been curious about those modern motherboards people have made that are amiga compatible (well, with the newer versions anyway)
Sadly, having never owned or played with one... don't have THAT much emotional connection to them... mostly just geeky old computer boner going on
You could do a lot with the 4000, but I'd still say go for the 1200. ;P But only 'cause I love the Big Wedge Amigas, the Box Amigas are much easier to take apart though. XD Either way, they're the newest Amigas you can get. Both use the AGA.
I think I'd have to buy another Amiga if I wanted to dabble with anything like that, I've gotten attatched to my "new" one already. ^^; It's my baby. I actually gave it an all-over clean the other day... GAWD. Talking about emotional attatchment, I'm awful. All it takes is 4 channel 8 bit audio (ilu Paula ;3;) to make me well up with happy nostalgia tears. XD I was an only child & my parents worked full time, so the Amiga basically replaced them. o3o
I always wanted an A4000, though, and still do!
There's still hope, there are quite a few 4000's floating around on ebay. =) Might be something worth getting. xD
I really wish I was born a jsut couple of years earlier so that I could enjoy these more. <3
Did I mention I really need to thin out?
I have an ISO of Amiga software gleaned from that pile, if you have a CD Rom and can read Amiga disks. All are DMS packed. I'll send the ISO if you can take it 220 megabyte, or I will mail a CD.
I never got a 2500, 600 or the CD32.
That's a very generous offer & thankyou! But I have everything I need software wise. =)
You should upload it in a torrent so that people looking for certain things can find it!
I have about three collections worth of software, a good deal of it duplicates.
The A 1000 for example came with everything including the original invoice. Bought in 1986 with a 256k memory expansion, a nine pin printer, monitor, two software titles, and a box of floppies, $2413.16.
For real nostalgia value the 10 DD floppies cost $40.00. Last I bought mass storage it was a 2 terabyte hard drive for $90.00. I got an 8 gig flash drive for a friend at 10 bucks,.
Times have changed.
I want, obviously, A4000, or at last A1200 with 030/40/60/PPC(MRRR), or maybe a new PPC amiga ;o
What model Amigas do I have? In order of ownership...
A500 (modded it for a Fat Agnes myself, booted to run in PAL instead of NTSC)
A4000/040 (with a surface-mounted Buster v9, sadly, but still my main Amiga, jumper-set to run in PAL, the HD floppy drive it came with konked out years ago, tho.)
CD32 (with the MPEG module)
A1200 (recent acquisition)
As a side note, I still have all of them, and they all work.
Last year, I backed up the failing hard drive in the A4000/040 to a DVD (thanks to UAE), and replaced it with an external CF card slot with a 4Gig CF card. It boots FAST now!
I'm still very much an Amiga fan. :D
Sidenote: Used to collect "old" computers. I started sometime in the late 80s (used to be able to find complete (early) 80s systems at car boot sales or jumble sales!) and ended around the early 2000s. These days most stuff like that is all on ebay.
I managed to keep the old A500 and last time I tried it it seemed to work ok, including the floppy drive (many old amigas seem to have had their floppy drives by now pack up). Unfortunatly the monitor I got with it, a 1084S has long since gone. While I had it though it worked pretty well, gave a good picture and doubled up as a pretty good monitor/TV as well.
Something I want? Well, I have a semi-working A2000 bought from ebay but because of the age of these machines it has succomed to the inevitable battery corrosion and needs to be repaired. I have a working CPU upgrade card for the 2000 that I know works, though because of the corrosion and age it dosen't like the A2000 at all. BTW if anyone has an old 2000 or one of the 'big-box' amigas - *check your batteries*. They might have already done damage!
Also still have some acorn machines here (e.g. A3020, BBC B, Master).
