Well, I hope that they get you the sound you're looking for, after that price :) What brand are you using? I've never actually changed guitar pickups - I'm using the ones that came on my Ibanez.

The humbucker is a EMG HZ passive humbucker the middle and neck pickups are Dimargio DP217 and the sound is amazing

That ... that is incredible. I'm envious. Maybe ... maybe I'll try learning the keyboard again when I'm done with my novel, or something (no I won't, I work full-time plus commutes. D:) I absolutely love this, though, and just as absolutely cannot wait to hear more!

Learning an instrument is a slow process (it's taking me a long time to produce something that sounds anything like what I have in my head) but I'd love to see you pick it back up again, too.

Honestly, there would have to be some sort of major schedule shift--right now I don't even have time to work on The Afflicted except sometimes on weekends, and, you know, The Afflicted is kind of a big deal! It's actually really depressing to compare it to all the things you're not struggling with to that extent--I wanted to be done with it before you finished CT2 just because it was the big major project for both of us, but of course you won handily in that regard. Then I wanted it to be done before Signal From the Sky, just so that you have something to actually link to if The Poison Skies makes the cut, but it looks like that's not going to happen either...!

So yes, the fact that I've been in "I swear I'm going to work on this novel if it kills me" mode for a while now and am still so spectacularly bad at finding time for it should tell you how completely impossible any keyboard endeavors are at this time. Not that I don't want to, of course! I'd absolutely love to if I could, but alas....

I will love to hear your music and listen (in my head) to the lyrics again.

That trill actually surprised me a little.. Your timing is good, most people struggle with even trills.. I've seen so many guitarists who can trill with speed, but not consistency :p

Having a background in other instruments (piano and violin) helps a bit with the finger motions, but it really is always surprising just how big a gap there is between what you think you're playing and what the computer records :) You have to be really strict with timing to the click track, particularly if you want to overlay parts and play in harmony with yourself... my greater problem is actually intonation, as I can never quite get anything pitch-perfect for reasons I can't quite work out. Here, a small amount of pitch correction is actually used in the production, just to nail it into place against the computer instruments.
