I am back from my first furry con and it was so fun I will return for 2013. First off when I arrived Wed night I was greeted by fursuiters in the lobby apparently they got there before us and were ready to start the fun early. I checked into the hotel but they must have messed up my reservation as I was supposed to be on the fursuit floor I ended up on the 24th floor out of 26 floors not cool but I managed. I learned the trick of the trade to the elevator by going up then took the return trip down.
The room was very clean however; there wasn’t a fridge, or microwave making it a little harder to keep leftover food. I just wish there was a vanity so I had an easier access to put on my CATS make up but I made do with the desk and mirror in the main room even though I was chased around the room by the housecleaning staff as I struggled to put on my make-up...
Thursday was spent going out to the Egyptian Museum and looking around San Jose a little bit before returning to grab my con badge. I met some of my fellow CATS costumer’s at Temperance’s room and we went out to Tandori that night. Great East Indian food by the way! Once I returned we split up, I to make sure my roommate made it in safely and to get some fursuiting time in. The rest of the con was followed much the same way. I spent a lot of time in suit, attending the parade, critter Olympics, the adult dragon’s panel , and dancing it up on the dance floor even though I’m not the best dancer. There were some great fursuits out there, I really liked the cuttlefish, the loftwing, the hawk, the mammoth and some of the dragons and the handsome snow leopard. But who could forget our own Temperance’s Bea. I still think she should have taken the masquerade trophy! I also got some cute and beautiful badges done, and picked up some novels, and prints to display at home.
Thank you to all the CATS costumers who made me feel very welcome, and to Lionel for spending so much time with us on the photo-shoot. I can’t wait to see those pictures! I hope to get to you you all better and next year I will show up with more CATS costumes. I already have plans for them rolling around the brain.
The last day/night there it was a little different since most of my friends had long since departed, but I managed to talk to some furries in the pool and when I arrived to the dead dog dance as Sati I managed to grab the very last tag. My first fur con was a complete success! Thank you all.
