...but is anybody else having trouble getting The Old Republic and Steam to play nice with each other? I need to get my chat/grind on.

Mine work fine together, as long as I don't ever expect my shift+tab overlay thing to work.

Probably has something to do with the fact that TOR was built with Origin to be native to it, and wouldn't surprise me if there was some code running to prevent Steam from working directly with the game. Hurrdurr pimp our own product (Origin and EA).

If you read the Mass Effect 3 news, it's not surprising any more. Mass Effect 3 won't be compatible with Steam.

My comp is refusing to read the discs, aha. I'm currently installing from a DVD drive in a dif computer mapped over the network to mine. It's been like an hour and old 30% done :C

It's going SO SLOW. It gets even better, when I started installing it started yelling at me that my OS isn't supported. I use XP, which the package clearly says IS supported.. we think its due to how the comp the dvd drive is in actually runs server 2003, haha.

I've noticed difficulties with steam when I play a game not off of it. I think it's just their way of messing with people <_<

I've run other non-steam games through steam, and the overlay usually doesn't suffer. TOR though...

I had the same issue. So far all the solutions I've come across haven't been very useful. Ended up resorting to just tricking the system that I have SW open, when in fact its just a text file, then load ToR normally.

Mine works fine, i use steam avidly while playing. If it matters this is how i play my game:
Windows mode, fullscreen-stretched.
I bought and installed it digitally.
I tab out / pull steam over it constantly.
Don't know if things like that might be what makes it work =/

Hmm can't say that I know of any problems the operating system might cause with this issue, but I'm running windows 7 so that MIGHT have something to do with it, who knows. (I'm no techy ;_;)
