Unfortunate Events: IMPORTANT COMMISSION INFO
14 years ago
General
I rarely am disappointed when working from the wonderful community that makes up FA. MOST of its individuals are incredibly prompt, contact oriented, and very willing to respond to the questions and concerns of the person they are commissioning.
Unfortunately, I have had the recent experience of an individual on here taking advantage of me. When the piece was completed there was unfortunately no payment and I was blocked from contacting them further.
Due to this unfortunate event, I will have to change my policy. All payment will need to be done UP FRONT as soon as we are decided on what is to be completed.

Heres another thing that I feel the need to address: My Pricing.
As a graduated trained illustrator with the capability of working professionally in the field as a full time illustrator my works should be no less than 50.00 an hour, at the LOW end. Do NOT ask me for discounts, do NOT ask when the next sale will be, do NOT think that because you have previously recieved art from me at a different price that I am going to give you the old price. That is just not how this works. I am sorry that I need to be this blunt about all of this but the artists of FA as well as elsewhere are getting the SHAFT by quite a few of their customers who aren't willing to pay the actual price or even a comperable price for the BEAUTIFUL artwork that we put time and effort into.
Guess what: Art is a trade. Just like computer science, just like being a nurse, just like being a police officer. Art is our TRADE, it is what we are doing, often times for a LIVING. are you going to ask your nurse for a discount? How about the person coming to fix your computer? Your electrician? I thought not.
The following is a list that I have had to use in order to get to where I am, and things I NEED to have in order to produce art:
My degree
My Pencils with graphite
My Microns
My Prisma Markers
My Prisma Pencils
My Acrylics
My Water Colors
My Paper, cardstock, posterboards, foamcore
My Computer where the digital art comes from
My Adobe Suite CS3
The grand sum of that... that I, and a LOT of other artists put into there work? What do you think that costs? Nothing?
Come on folks. Get it together.
Put it into perspective. Think about it.
Questions? Comments? Good lets talk.

Most artists, or commissioners, who have a bad experience go there, upload the story with linked proof, etc.
also, it's interesting to see how much such an art degree actually costs. people probably think it comes natural, like public school or something. even medium prices paper and pencils/markers cost serious money, which needs to be dished out in advance... some people think it's a matter of five minutes, or somesuch.
probably due to the internet. your goal is one click away, there is no need to wait. this art is awesome, how can they take more than ten minutes to make it?
side note: I find your prices reasonable. I'm just missing the "extra character" option. or do they just double?
--Think of all the EXPOSURE you'll get by doing this free art for us!
--You're just starting out, exposure is what you need, not money.
--You're young, you'll get there. Now how about a 50% discount?
Fdoifaesrl;gh aseruiofhvsdmc *head desk*.....
really?....
really really?
GAH!!!!!
*ahem.... composes self*
Side Note Answer: yes for traditional, as it takes the same amount to do another character as it took to create the first. ;)
Digital: everything is 15.00 an hour
other customers would pay regularly at first, and then suddenly disappear. happened to me even here at fA. one of these days I'll learn to take advance cash from new customers...
one of those "good customers" had the gall to threat me over the internet, "Draw the newly ordered pics or I won't pay you!"
so I said, "pay the recently delivered art or I won't even consider starting something new! don't like it? sue me!"
"You know full well I'm broke, so I can't sue you!"
oh, really? like, really really?
the quotes you quoted are nothing but attempts at fishing for free art. I'd shoot them.
side note reply: okay. I'll keep that in mind. :)
Sorry if I ever irritated you about being confused about your pricing x3 It's really not hard to confused this one hahaha
Your prices are very fair for the beautiful quality that you do <3 As you say, it's a steal!
who did this to ya quicks?
good luck with that mate :/ shame you were cheated like that
and don't worry, I know I still owe ya 60 for that commission you did for me :p am finally getting that job and should have it to you in feb. ^ ^
when I'm able ta pay I'ma add a lil something extra as interest ^ ^
