vikings fly? lol so much to know XD

I just... don't like how Toothless looks at all. The others they did a great job on but Toothless is just, ugh, dunno.

Yeah, I kind of feel the same way. The chubbiness... the thickness... That head shape... the PINK. Eh. His wings are like, proportionally really disappointingly short, too.

The MOVEMENT he's capable of though, is ridiculous. He's literally a brand new thing in animatronics- I mean, he's ridiculously interactive, probably at least double that of the other fully automated dragons. That's what I find fascinating and impressive here.

if only they'd at least painted him a more convincing blackish type color. Though I guess there are reasons for that ( a lot of the show is likely going to be dark, so visibility is likely an issue).

I totally dig the realistic Toothless...I think...the pink highlights are interesting for sure. Hah. He looks cute though! I actually like the chubbyness. :P

My favorite part was when they said "The dragon's won't look the same because we want to give them artistic freedom, but FUNDAMENTALLY, it will tell the story of the movie." ....... WHAT!? Yeah, no let's make Toothless GREEN if we want, so long as people THINK we make it about HTTYD. Seriously?

The whole videos projection thing is pretty cool. Us Canadians did pretty awesome with that at the Vancouver Olympics a few years ago.

My main concern is that Toothless looks nothing like Toothless still. I thought, oh they weren't done building him when we saw the early trailer, but, it's kinda upsetting.

I kinda like that one shot of the vikings stealing the dragon eggs, and there's these giant coils lying on the floor they're crawling over. About 13:37 in the video.

Also what's with the arms bands on Hiccup? He doesn't have enough costume or something so they have to add more to make it look cooler?

I actually like that concept, now that I see what they're doing with it. They're using the framework and constructing something a little different- like the movie leaped from the book, the show will leap from the movie. They're taking it some interesting visual places (which might end up being the best aspect of the show). I feel like expecting it to be close to the movie will affect how much a person likes it.

And... Toothless WAS green first, so... (and he's PINK here, I'd say- definitely artistic license). If it's about Hiccup and Toothless (and Astrid and Gobber and Fishlegs and Gronckles, etc), it's probably going to be sufficiently about HTTYD.

Unless they all end up having a 30-part multispecies orgy on stage or something. Then not so much.

I dig the multicultural cast. It was the movie that pushed the whole EVERYONE IS WHITE thing (more historically accurate, to be sure). Cressida Cowell's Vikings, however, aren't so limited as far as race- and indeed, that's a concept I like better (because ultimately, since HTTYD is a metaphor for a lot of real world things, the Vikings represent all of humanity in its crazy, stupid, loveable glory). Plus, I assume, they cast for talent (not sure if this assumption is right or not, but... holy crap, some of these folks can at least do some epic stuff).

I think they're going to make up for Toothy's attractiveness issues with the technology here. The tech is INCREDIBLE. Like, nothing's ever been done like that before. I hate how short his wings are, and the way his tail's placed, but I'm thinking everything here has a reason (for example, placing mechanisms in functional places without the motion going unnatural). Not going to fully knock it until I see it in-show for myself.

Those coils, I'm almost certain, are the Zippleback. They look really Zipplebacky (I would know that pattern ANYWHERE, it's imprinted on my retinas now), and if you look at the detailed list of puppets available here: http://dreamworksdragonslive.com/DR.....t-A4_d10-1.pdf (page 6), It seems that's the major location it shows up.

The costume is completely different. Not even worth comparing, really. ^^;; probably just going for an EPIC look or something. (the Toon Link belt kind of detracts from that though XD)

Well, overall, I personally think they're trying something completely different, but I'll still be interested in seeing it.

Plus during the video, in the workshop, you see people sticking their heads in the dragons, probably to paint and stuff, but still funny. Also during that egg stealing part, one dragon starts eating a guy's head. There's some inspired illustrations for us to work with.

Yeah, those are totally Zippleback coils all around that area. It was part of the concept art for the BOOK version of the movie, cause I'm looking at the artwork now. If I was there though, it would be nice to hide myself in those squishy dragon necks and read a book or something.
