Terrible... + my psych class

just read in Rolling Stone magazine about something that has been going on the past two-three years. Something I haven't heard covered by the media, yet pretty important. A school district in Minnesota called the "anoka-hennepin" district has had a suicide cluster epidemic. 9 children from middle school to high school has killed themselves over bullying within two years. Those are astronomical odds compared to the national average.
main reason? The district's mandate. "Anoka-Hennepin staff, in the course of their professional duties, shall remain nuetral on matters regarding sexual orientation including but not limited to student-led discussions"
the kids aren't the only problem in this situation, the staff can't even help kids who are being bullied or else they fear they will be fired for not being "nuetral." kids are allowed to get away with ganging up on LGBT students and throw them in trash cans, and get zero punishment. Not even a warning or a slap on the wrist.
The article was chilling, doods...

To end on happier news, i get to show my Human adjustment class some aspects of pop culture. I'm going to show two songs and some video games and my DVD.
I'll give you zero guesses on what i'm showing. Final Fantasy X and a Crash Bandicoot game. Fantastic Mr. Fox. "Antidote" by swedish House Mafia.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAND PONIES!
I'm showing a Fluttershy figurine right before I play this song from my flashdrive.
Class is going to be shocked lol

xD
...though I did lift up someone by the collar once.... other than that its slapping hands o3o
CLUSTERFUCK! this is one of the worst attacks on homosexual children in recent history. The board of education barely recognizes anything is wrong when in their own district 9 children commited suicide within two years with an antecedent being a mandate by their own creation. i'm friggin pissed over this.
But on the lighter note, I remember doing a partner project back two years ago about pop culture. Since we were both Kingdon Hearts fans we showed the class some of that, though it was less of "show us pop culture" and more of showing its effect on the globalized world. But heck, it's still a rare opportunity to show off some awesomeness in class, which is inherently awesome.
Kingdom hearts is indeed awesome ^w^ (has poster on wall)
But Crash Bandicoot rules, especially the musics!
What position are you in education? =3
