Cycle

I wanted to make a post and just let you know objectively what's going on with me. As many of you out there know I suffer from clinical depression. I'm currently on antidepressant medication which has given me a good deal better and more realistic perspective on life in general. That said, my mood does cycle over time and I have my good days and bad days.
The good news is that even when I'm depressed I know and realize that I am not being very rational and try and avoid venting that into the public sphere but am not always successful. I hope you can forgive the times I've made a royal ass of myself.
Most days I feel much more like the person I thought I'd lost some 5 years ago. I've honestly made a lot of forward progress but I do have a long way to go. I'm going to do my best to continue to work on this and earn my place here and I want everyone to know just how much I appreciate you standing by me through the tough times.

When I'm feeling particularly foul at the moment and my meds don't seem do be working, I usually do one of my "quick fixes" to get out of the funk. What these do is produce chemicals in the brain that ease the pain a bit. Kinda like taking a mental aspirin. You probably heard people tell you to exercise, but I know that's usually the last thing I wanna do when I'm down. Any physical exertion helps really, like do some housework or play a sport (hell, Wii tennis would help!), play with a pet, or go for a walk. Speaking of which, direct sun exposure produces Vitamin D or something which also makes you feel better. Taking a shower stimulates the skin and helps the mind, getting an orgasm (hey, think "endorphins"!), playing a good video game, or getting absorbed into a book you like. Pretty much these can all be put into 2 categories: physical exertion and mental exertion. As long as you do something, it's better than nothing.
Sorry for the preaching. You probably already know all this or didn't need it. Sometimes I get carried away. You don't have to do any of those things. I'm just trying to say that no matter ho bad it may get, there's always something you can do. And there's always people who'll will listen to you. Eh, sounds cheesy but it's true.
