Thinking of starting a story commission thing here.
Hmm, I don't know if anyone has read my stories, or liked them to any degree, but I would like to start being a commission writer here on FA.
For a little spending money you know.
Anyone willing to comment on the grade of my stories and if they themselves would ever commission me to write something?
I've been hoping to get some opinions on whether I write at a acceptable level to be a commission writer.
So far I have only know that I am fast. The latest story I wrote, Love Bunny, which is around 2400 words(including a few typos); I wrote it in a little under three hours with a IM friend giving me some input and posted it as is.
The idea I have is to start a IM with the commissioner and write the entire story within six hours/one night in the weekend so there is not a long wait, due to my being in college and all.
As those that read the four stories I have out so far, I can write clean and weird content. I just need some direction from the commissioner.
They say "yeah I like that" or "no I don't like that" or "I want x here", and I write to the best of my abilities.
This sound like a good idea or a bit too cumbersome?

As for writing it over the course of one evening over an IM, it's a good option if someone wants to take you up on it. A lot of commissioners don't get that level of control over a story or piece or art unless they're done over a long period of time. At the same time, people have to understand that sometimes a commission doesn't turn out exactly what they had in mind, especially if they're not willing to communicate with the artist/author that much.
Basically, I think it's a great option to have available, and it's good of you to be willing to talk to a person throughout the process, more or less. If a person doesn't wish to make the commitment themselves, though, nothing wrong with getting some details and running with it. I wouldn't make the "session" a requirement, just an option and perhaps the preferred method. Case by case basis, though, I suppose.
Right, cool...note to self, marked it as preferred option. I really like the IM method because I have done it a few times already, I write a block/paragraph and then IM it, get feedback, and then continue. The fact that I am in college means that sometimes I might need to delay or I might forget about commissions, so the fact there is a person there on IM is a great motivator for me. Plus the fact someone is going to pay/or has paid for something makes me self-conscious, and I want to fulfill all obligations as fast as possible.
Hmm, thanks for that info on commissions and commissioner expectations. I did not know that much, I just started writing and I still don't know much even after six years here.
